Filament Runout Error

I wanted to let an old roll of filament run out before I put in a fresh spool.  When it ran out, I got a message that the filament was unloaded.  This was fine.  When I tried to load the new spool, I got a message that I needed to remove the filament, I already did that.  No matter what, the message insisted that I needed to remove the filament.  This was a text message and no other options.  I pressed the control knob, several times, held it in, etc.  Finally, I rebooted and loaded the filament, but I lost my partial print.

Firmware is 4.7.0

Seems like this is an ongoing bug.

RE: Filament Runout Error

It seems reinserting and removing the filament manually a few times kicks it into gear - have you tried?

Also check for any filament debris and clean it out, sometimes this confuses the sensor....

This is already listed as a bug on the Github page, and has been for a while now.......users are having the same issue with 4.7.1 too....

Almost certain to be a mechanical issue.  Stringing or dust interfering with the sensor system is the chief suspect.  As @iftibashir suggests, make cleaning part of your regular maintenance routine.

Cheerio,

RE: Filament Runout Error

Thanks for the replies. a) I keep my sensor clean, but will look into it more in the future. b) I was using up several short ends on the print. On the first short end, it finally worked after trying to insert the filament maybe 10 times, but that didn't seem like a practical or repeatable fix.  On the last short piece, even that didn't fix it, so I rebooted. c) After reboot, there is no issue.

If this is a bug, I hope they fix it soonest.

RE:

i had the same problem but unfortunately rebooting didn't fix the issue

Extruder is clean, even unscrewed the gearbox to check up on closely and tried a factory reset with new firmware but got stuck on filament sensor calibration.

if someone could help me out i would be really glad
