Filament guide broken twice
Hi, I assembled my new MK4 and the included PETG filament guide broke.
After contacting the support they told me to reprint it and not over tighten the screw holding the new guide.I printed it in PLA (Prusa Galaxy Black) and it broke again.
Does anyone has the same issues with the guide or has experience with a better guiding system. My engineering intuition tells me that not the screws but the 2mm clamps holding a 100mm arm might be the reals issue here. I have seen alternative guide systems on printables.com and would really be eager to have other users reporting on their experiance with the MK4 and the official or alternative filament guides
Thanks Felix

I have my MK4 in the Prusa enclosure and it uses something like a reverse bowden setup and works great. Here is what I mean. I found this info on another thread in hear for a different issue,

I went trough the makes on printables.com and found less than 10 issues from over 100 makes. Not sure where this leads.
RE: Filament guide broken twice
Yes, happened to me yesterday - nearing the end of a cardboard spool - I believe the filament caught on the spool, layed the spool over a bit, bound up and ripped the guide off the spool holder - and ruined the print. The little grabbers on the guide were trashed, so I printed an alternative guide in ABS and it printed beautifully - but it did not clip well to the top rail... so I am rethinking the whole mounting the spools to the printer. I have a new sunlu2 and I am thinking about printing directly from that, but a good guide and holder would be nice...

Here is a pic of mine and I just wanted to mention to add the pneumatic coupler for the PTFE bowden tube as pointed out by the arrow.

Thanks for sharing your insights and fails. It seems that my hunch is correct.
I will continue monitoring the new fillament guide and investigate the reverse bowden.
RE: Filament guide broken twice
are you planning to add a MMU3 to your MK4?
RE: Filament guide broken twice
No. I have the original MMU and the 2 upgrade kits for it but never opened the boxes on any of them yet. 🙂 After I upgrade my MK3 to the MK3S+ I will upgrade it to the MK3.5 and then put it on that printer. I don't want to complicate things with my MK4 at least until I feel more comfortable with it. I am going to install a tungsten carbide nozzle so I hopefully will never have to mess with the so called easy nozzle changes working inside of an enclosure.
