Enclosure vs closet

I am about to purchase an MK4. I am considering the enclosure as well. However, in my home office I have a closet which currently houses my computer tower. (I keep it in there because it is so noisy). I could rearrange things and expand the shelf to make room for the MK4. I asked support about this, and they were only concerned about the temperature in the closet. They say as long as the temp stays below 50 degrees Celsius that I should be fine. I put a thermometer in there and the temp has never gotten higher than 32. So, it seems that I am fine on that front.

My reason for bouncing this to the community is because I am wondering what folks' opinions are on the "warm closet" vs the enclosure. It is my understanding that the purpose of the enclosure is to help maintain temperature and humidity to ensure better prints in certain materials. I am not sure if I will ever use ABS (worried about the fumes) or the other materials that like higher temps. I assume initially I will mostly do PLA or PETG.

My question therefore is: in the opinion of the experienced users here, do you think that my warm closet situation would be comparable to an enclosure and therefore eliminate the need to have one? (thus saving some cost) or would the enclosure be preferable?

I will be using this setup as a hobbyist. I have no plans of doing any mass production or print farms here. Just a guy who likes making stuff and finally wants to get back into 3D printing (my previous experiences were with a Printrbot kit many years ago).

Thank you!

RE: Enclosure vs closet

You may have problems with PLA. it doesn't like enclosures. because the warmer air, due to the enclosure may cause the heatsink fan to be inefficient at cooling the Nextruder Cold end heatsink

That's interesting. I had no idea. So maybe start without the enclosure and install outside the closet then? Thanks.
