I fear that we have to live with that slow speeds.
For me LAN is also not much faster than WIFI, but at least stable.

When I look at my MK3S connected via WIFI with a Raspberry, that works MUCH MUCH faster.
Should the hardware be so bad, only a new board would help unfortunately.

I wonder that until now there is not even one official word from Prusa regarding this problem. Are they ashamed?

RE:

I have an XL (single tool) with firmware 6.0.4 connected to ethernet. It is super slow compared to Octoprint with WiFi and my Mk3S+.

Uploading to PrusaConnect is slow (about 5 min for a 95mb bgcode file), and downloading from PrusaConnect to the printer is even slower (took about 23 minutes for the same file). I know it's not the network connection as every other networked device is much much faster.

I was going to update with the new firmware (6.1.2), but according to reports it seems to kill the ethernet port.

I guess I'll wait for the next firmware.

Any word on an update?

Due to the nature of how the wifi connection was implemented (uart-to-network), the speed cannot be really increased. Regarding the ethernet connection being slow, I recently found an issue with half-duplex vs. duplex mode and it is currently being verified by the prusa devs. Doubt it will make it in the next version 6.1.3, but if the issue is confirmed it might make it in 6.1.4.

It's now January 2025 and my MK4S transfer speed is still incredibly slow.
I also have a Bambu P1S.  I created a small enclosure for an ESP32 module in Fusion 360 and sent it to both the PruserSlicr and BambuStudios.  I sent to "Connect" in Prusa and "Send" in Bambu at nearly identical times.

Bambu was 50% thru printing before the MK4s even started.   Come on guys... fix this already!!

RE:

My MK4S' preheating had the time to turn itself off because of inactivity before the file I was trying to print finished uploading 🤦‍♀️Calling that functional is a heck of a stretch in my opinion...

It's a bit sad to think that in 2025, the fastest way to transfer a file to my 3D printer is still to walk there physically with a USB drive like it's the dark ages.

To this day this is the reason I hate my mk4s and I just ordered a Core One. I expect the same misstreatment based on the same poor hardware choices taken AGAIN. Honestly Prusa why do you do this to your customer base?

Possibly Prusa considers that the good reputation acquired years ago will last forever, regardless what they do nowadays. Maybe they think also that a large part of their customers are born masochists  ( and maybe they're right ..  🤩 ).

250 kBps is the best I can get out my mk4s.
3min for 45mb file you got to be kidding me.
I can transfer 180mb file to octorpint in 30 seconds on my mk3s right next to the mk4s.
