Do we have guide on how to replace bearings?

Hi all! I have noticed that Prusa Knowledge Base only has the guides for changing bearings on the Mk3+, and I don't think there is a guide for Mk4 available just yet. However, I really need to replace the bearings on my X-axis because I can't stand the loud grinding noises anymore. I have received the replacement parts from the customer support team, but I am really not sure where to start.

Replacing the X-axis bearings require you to dismount the x-carriage from the z-axis rails, very similarly in the the MK3 instructions, the part designs are slightly different but are functionally the same.  What I would recommend is that you get the MK3 bearing replacement guide, and the MK4 assemble manual and compare pictures.  The hardest part of this job is pulling the x-carriage rails out of the rail ends.  I would remove the  X-end-idler (the right side piece where the belt loops over the idle pully).  Pulling and inserting the rails out of and back into the plastic needs to be done carefully.  It is possible to break the plastic parts if and bending forces are applied. I know because am guilty of breaking these on my on MK3.  What I find works best it tapping the plastic parts off and the back on.

Don't forget to lubricate your bearings.

Good luck friend

Could you just look at the MK4 assembly instructions?

Sure thing, but I still find the process quite daunting. It would be great if we could have detailed documentation like the ones Mk3+, but I am sure even with that, the process would still be very difficult. I will do my best.

Please let us know how you make out. Getting the smooth rods into the plastic parts was hard, and I imagine getting them back out is even harder.

I have too change my X-bearings too ( almost one year, and a few day ago it started squeeking and feeling quite "rough")

I'll try to pry the rods out through the inspection holes. Maybe, after removing the 2 screws i'l drill a 2mm hole at each end.(Idler side) That way i can tapp them out.

lets see if that's necessary.

an other thought on the bearings.

This squeaking ( in my case) occured, after printing with printbed-temperature with  100-110 deg.  Maybe, due to the higher temperature the lubricant in the bearings does not "stay in place" anymore.  ( The rods probably heat up also)

???
