Display Issue
I have a one year old mk4 (input shaper) that I haven't run in about 6 months. Upon plugging it back in and trying to print something today, the screen worked fin for boot up and loaded new firmware (i updated to 6.0.3). But then when the UI should display I get a black screen with occasional flickering (and sometimes full white screens for a quarter second). Sorry as I am sure others have had this issue before, but I am unsure how best to phrase it for searching.
RE: Display Issue
I did have the exact same issue on my MK4 as well. For me, it occurred after I installed the LCD cable quick release mod and I initially assumed that the custom cable was faulty, but I could not find any issues with the cable as such.
One thing I tried was to route the cable differently. Instead of having it under the heat bed, I put it outside the frame which did actually help. After that change the printer did boot reliably and I thought I had solved the problem, but it reappeared during long prints. Looking at my sensor data (I have a climate sensor in my enclosure), I noticed that this always hapopened shortly after the enclosure air temperature went over 45°C. Assuming that this might actually be some kind of a thermal problem, I installed the electronics fan mod and the problem did never occur again.
Honestly, I can't say what the exact problem was and which of my actions actually solved it. My current assumption is that the real reason was the LCD cable's connection to the mainboard. It is entirely possible that the connector didn't sit in the socket properly and that the actual "repair" was when I reassembled everything after the fan mod - perhaps simply making sure that the connector was connected properly fixed the issue. Perhaps it had something to do with some kind of thermal expansion of the connector that was fixed by the fan mod. I simply don't know, but the issue is gone now.
I am sorry that I don't have a definitiv answer, but maybe I managed to point you into the right direction. 🙂
RE: Display Issue
Me 2 and when i contacted the support, he told me to try to disconnect the connectors and re-connect them again and that helped - for a while, but the problem occurs still now and then, but if I then wait, the screen comes back.
But it is frustrating...
RE:
I ended up chatting with support for a while and after all their suggestions didn't work they shipped me a new display and cable. The system has been working fine after swapping in the new screen. Kinda random, but I ended up not really understanding or getting any confirmation that they were sending me a screen and cable, so I bought one as well. Basically I now have an extra screen and cable (new version) at home. If anyone needs it, just DM me your shipping address and I will send it your way (free, its either that or trash or deep storage that will never get used).
