Cannot start printer; screen off, power cycling every 5 seconds

Hello,

I have purchased a pre-assembled MK4 and an Original Prusa enclosure. I did not test the assembled printer before modifying it to fit the enclosure. The enclosure's instructions call for detaching the screen and power supply to fit them outside the enclosure. After doing this and finishing assembly, I turned it on and observed the following:

  • The unit appears to be turning on and off roughly every 5-10 seconds, with the fans and LED lights on some boards coming on.
  • Nothing appears on the screen.
  • Plugging in the original USB key makes the fans stay on a bit longer. Presumably, it is scanning the disk, but I can't tell.
  • Wiggling the cables did not change anything. I tried unplugging from the LCD and replacing the cable, to no avail.

I think this could be a broken cable issue, as the cables are on the short side and the route through the enclosure is stretching the screen tight. However, I don't know how to troubleshoot it any further. Any help would be appreciated!

This problem turned out to be the one of the flat ribbon cables on the back of the LCD, that got disconnected while I was handling it. Carefully undo the connectors for the ribbon cables and put them back if you suspect that you have this problem.
