Bearings. Prusa better than Misumi. Lubrication
Hi, i know it has been discussed before, but.....
I want to replace my bearings because the X axis sometimes squeaks an Y is way louder than in the beginning. ( 1 year, factory assembled, lot of print time 🙂
so i ordered new rods (g6) and bearings from prusa. I than read, that Musimi is better and ordered some too. I degreased them properly and packed the misumi ones with superlube. Quite a disappointment when i tried the misumi bearings. They felt really rough. So i tried the (not yet packed) prusa-bearings.
What a difference. Super smooth. So i packed them too and found they felt much "rougher" than before.
So i degreased one misumi. Better, but still rough, especially when applying the load a little offcenter.
I degreased both again and tried with the original prusa grease, same results. I than lubricated one bearing of each with PTFE Bicycle chain lube.
The prusa bearing was as good as without any lube, the misumi rough as ever.
So 1 thought. Does prusa have better bearings now. ( i don't think the misumis i ordered are fake)
and 2nd. Is grease really the best option
