Vertical bands on X and Y-axes
Hi,
See picture.
What can cause these vertical bands? (appears on X an Y-axes)
Contacted support and did not receive answer/solution.
Did already a test print with different speeds every 5mm in layer height and problem
stays the same on every layer (thus speed does not affect the vertical stripes)
What causes this; belts, bearings, motors or extruder?
Please help! Dis not see this bad on my 5 MK3S+ printers!
RE: Vertical bands on X and Y-axes
I have similar banding, more on the Y axis than X. Assuming that the issue was to do with the teeth of the belt, I played around with loosening and tightening the Y axis belt with no avail. Then I replaced the smooth Y axis belt idler with a toothed pulley, and that reduced the bands a little. Perhaps.
I have now printed the OrcaSlicer VFA test object (in the calibration menu) and found that the banding is dependent on the speed of movement, with slower being good and faster being good, but faster makes bands appear on the X axis. So, no solution that I've found.
RE: Vertical bands on X and Y-axes
Myself and a number of others have concluded it's the motor pulleys. Replace it to eliminate the issue. Unfortunately, though, there's no way to detect if a even the replacement pully is also "bad." Seems nobody can spot the specific defect that leads to the vertical banding. But, it's been proven time again that replacing a pulley from a known "good" machine will eliminate the issue. Or swapping a good/bad pulley between x/y axes, and the banding also switches axes.
RE: Vertical bands on X and Y-axes
I am really disappointed. have the same issue.
Unfortunately there is no chance to refund the printer....

Hi. This mod significantly improves VFA. Tested on my MK4
