Using PTU
I have, at long last, completed my printer upgrade from Mk3S to Mk4. I don’t know why it took me so long to get started, possibly work got in the way! Anyway, now that it’s done I have a project in mind. I have a Spong mincer which is made from cast metal and usually attached to the worktop by a clamp. To stop the mincer moving when in use, there are two small soft plastic feet, inserted into conical cut-outs in the base. Over time, one of the feet has got lost, so I thought I would make a replacement. I believe that the normal PLA is going to be too rigid in this application and that TPU might be better. So the question is this: can I use TPU in my Mk4, what settings are needed and how to be sure that it sticks to the base whilst being printed?
RE: Using TPU
I wasn't sure about your 'title' - but realize it should be "TPU". 🙂
I've printed TPU successfully on my kit built MK4 with satin plate. I also think it will be 'harder' to print the 'softer' the material is, however I now don't change anything on the printer and use default TPU settings in slicer.
good luck!
RE: Using TPU
Ah! Sorry for the mix up of letters, but thank you for your answer. Now, where’s the “ edit” button?
It will stick to the build sheet OK, in fact you are strongly advised to use a layer of glue stick to make it possible to remove it.
You may need to back-off the extruder idler pressure by half a turn, the default TPU settings should be OK - for very small parts it can pay to slow the print down even more and the filament must be completely dry or it will string.
Cheerio,
