Printint time : regular vs complete individual object

While trying to print 4 spheres, each with a brim, I was sure that "complete individual object" mode will be faster. Maybe not by much, yet faster.

The reality is different: After slicing with PruceSlicer the time with individual mode was 1 hour 46 minutes, vs. 1 hour 11 minutes with default usage.

How can it be?

Obviously, when you print individual objects each layer takes less time to complete that if you print them all at the same time. Look at the cooling settings of the filament. Almost at the bottom there’s a tab saying “slow the speed if the printing time of the layer is below X seconds”. Say X=15 in your case. If the object is very small and a layer would take less than 15 seconds to complete, the printer speed will slow down so that it takes exactly 15 seconds to print the layer. That’s why sometimes it’s faster to print everything at once. If the individual object was big enough that wouldn’t happen because every layer would take more than 15 seconds. and no slow down occurs.

Of course you can modify X to smaller values, but don’t go too low or the filament won’t have enough time to solidify before the next layer is deposed on top.

Thank you for a perfect andswer: Both informative and teaching.

Now that explained, I understand the logic behind.

My takeaway is to print small parts at once, while larger ones will be printed individually (if possible).
