Nozzle load sensor - possible to detect filament type?

I'm no plastic surgeon, but would it be possible to detect the filament type with a combination of nozzle size, nozzle temperature, and extrusion pressure against the build plate and notify/warn the user during the calibration process if the durometer values are off?

I think you would need more than that, to detect the type of filament.  I have been involved in detection of stuff for years and it is not an easy task.  I am have used 3D printers for years and finally own my own printer but with what I have read, there are many variables between the same type of filament.  Humidity absorbed by the filament may even be a factor.  Going between different filaments, would make it much harder.  There are optical ways to sort plastics for recycling on the market.  Not sure how easy that would be to implement on a printer size.  It would be easier to use an RFID tag on the spools and read that.  An RFID tag could have all kinds of details to speed the print process.  This would have to be across all manufacturers to be useful.

Watching a youtube video last night has shown me that even changing the type of nozzle changes the printing process and will require it's own calibration.  A CHT nozzle can really speed up printing.  Even one video showed how a home made version was better than a stock nozzle.  I am not at that level yet but trying to learn and making notes on a daily basis.
