If you can’t or do not want to wait, there are two MK4 printers on eBay:

MK4 assembled - bidding at $1225 USD plus $125 shipping

or

MK4 kit - Buy it now for$1500 uSD plus $60 shipping.

So your options is to spend more on an ebay buy, that wouldn't be covered under any kind of warranty I'm sure. So if you get a kit with some problems you'll be left with a glorified paper weight if the seller doesn't accept returns. Nice....

I'll keep following this trend. I want to see how this turns out. I don't even think prusa cares about what our demographic thinks.

They care, but I think they know that only a very small vocal minority complain and cancel their orders.  Twenty-five to fifty vocal people complain on the forum and Reddit.  Maybe it is more.  They have thousands of happy customers.  You do the math.  I am pretty sure they know what is going on.

I would wait and buy it from Prusa.  I am pretty sure they would honor the warrantee.

My concern is when a company starts to push back dates, similar to kickstarter projects, and I know Prusa is not a kickstarter far from it, thinks are not stable and the company has over extended. Should they cut back on the number of products that sell and  bring the surplus into the MK4 kits? Dates getting missed can means a shortage of part which and that can lead to faulty parts being shipped or poor quality parts being used  as a stop back. All in all the next few weeks will tall when people starting getting the kits.

I'm not sure if i should cancel or ride the wave. Their are a lot of other brands to consider and I'm just confused what to do?

For some reason they got themselves in the spot where they are launching four ‘platforms’ all at once.  XL, MK4, MMU3, and MK upgrade kits will all land in about the same month.  After what, four years of no launches?

Posted by: @iftibashir

They clearly do not learn from past mistakes I hear as this is nothing new with Prusa.

Posted by: @rainer-2

Or it's just that a lot of people want to have an MK4. Although, according to internet experts, Prusa is dead and anyone who doesn't buy Bambulab is a fool. It's always been a bit bumpy when Prusa launches a new model. But that shouldn't be an excuse. They have to work on that.

That is what I find so interesting.  You’d think that they would have learned from the XL and gotten more prepared for the MK4, which it seems that they had- until they hadn’t.  Here we are, months after ordering, and they can’t get day one orders delivered.  They made an effort to get printers out at launch, but then regressed to normal behavior.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability

To me, the Bambu and Prusa focus on two separate markets.  One is closed source and disposable (maybe) with limited upgrade capabilities and most of them internal.  The other is open source and completely upgradable wend with outside sources.  I own both, but prefer Prusa’s model.  I was tempted to move to Bambu, but the limitations and noise have limited my interest into going to Bambu as my primary printer.

I understand the frustration.  I plan to step away from it for a few days to enjoy the outdoors and relax.  My order will still be there waiting when I get back.

Yes, you will make a difference in you blood pressure.

I am saying that all of the complaining on the forum really does not change how quickly we get printers.  I am not saying not to complain.  It just is not going to create a miracle.

Posted by: @absolus

You are wrong. I will make difference in the future.

I have placed an order 12.04.2023 13:00 Warsaw timezone. I am still waiting, contacted Prusa every 2 weeks and the answer is „we will send you the printer next week” every single time.

Next time, I can assure you that I will order Prusa’s competition. Prusa is waisting my time. Sorry

I thank that it will be my first and the last Prusa printer due to this amateur/poor situation.

I will wait in order to see what happen, but I would not reccomend Prusa to anybody also they will have my „Feedback” in social media

I waited half a year for my MK3 delivery (year 2017). I have been rewarded for this with excellent printing results for 6 years. The 3D printing chapter often requires a lot of patience.

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability

Very true.  I will always recommend a Prusa to all those that need a printer as long as the quality is good.  The wait is well worth the frustration.  A lot of folks say the customer service is lacking.  I actually like being able to ask for an update on the CHAT and getting great customer service after the printer arrives.

That being said, I never recommend a Prusa to my friends until the supply for that m0del stabilizes and that is not just because I want my printer sooner.

Prusa shipping logistics has always been rubbish at the bet of time. I mean, I'm extremely disappointed with them for not fixing the perennial problems, but it seems like for a launch in particular they'd have to hire a buttload of temp workers, and short-term rental of additional warehouse space. They wouldn't have time for proper training of the temps, so they'd only go in the low-skill jobs. I'm guessing Prusa is just focusing on quality over throughput? As maddening as it is to be facing another slip, I'd rather have a great printer in a month, than a POS today.

If we want a different outcome out of them they have to make changes. Those changes probably aren’t what we think they’re going to be. My guess is is that we’re either going to see the prices on kits go up, and or they don’t offer them as kits anymore. I think the kids in assembled dual pathway is more resource intensive than we realize.   Shipping out parts kits is not a simple as throwing stuff in a bag or box, especially if you want to QC, the individual parts. We’ve kind of already seen this with the XL and that is only available in the semi assembled. And if I remember, it was a long time until the mini as a kit came out.

If the time matters you should avoid Prusa, if you are a hobbyst you can wait a year and be happy.

Pure rubbish.  Except for the XL, no Prusa has taken a year.  That might change.

I don't disagree, but take action.  Posting repeatedly on the forum how you have been wronged does nothing.  You have to make a change to get Prusa to make a change.

I went to my shop and did a little printing with my MK4 and Bambus.  The Bambus drown out the thunder..

RE: Mk4 Kit Availability

Nope.  I own 21 printed and know quality when I see it.

I own:

  • 4 Mk3s
  • 4 Minis
  • 1 MK4
  • 1 Anycubic Chiron
  • 1 FLSUN V400
  • 1 Anycubic Chiron
  • 1 Anycubic Predator
  • 1 Anycubic Photon Ultra
  • 1 Anycubic Photon M3
  • 1 Bambu X1C
  • 1 Bambu P1P
  • 1 BIQU BX
  • 1 Creality Ender-3
  • 1 Creality Hallot Plus
  • 1 Creality

Except for Bambu, the service from the rest is garbage.  Bambu is close.  They primarily use email, and I am still waiting for an answer from 2 weeks ago.  With Prusa, you connect to the shop and have an answer in minutes.

I think Prusa's communication and pre-delivery customer support could use some work, but I am not sure the posts on the forum work.  Send them an email - that is more directed and will probably get a response and be more likely to be read.

Do you sell Prusa or work for this company? You sound likely you do.

Why would a Prusa employee encourage you to cancel your order and take action rather than complain on the forum?

This attitude is still outrageous!

I ordered and paid for the printer on the 24th week, the expected delivery time was 6-8 weeks. (this is written on the product page)A few days after ordering, the delivery time increased to 10 weeks, this morning I am shocked to see that the delivery is expected to be in the 36th week, that's 12 weeks.Which is annoying, unacceptable in a serious company, of course the money was taken immediately...

RE:

People complaining here are undoubtedly a minor number of customers. I am sure there are many others who are complaining elsewhere too. But, Prusa I am sure are doing their best, and in todays supply chain world, I am not really surprised that the dates have continued to slip.

Prusa isn't reading this thread, and isn't scouring the internet for other complaints, they just aren't. The MK4 isn't a critical / necessary product for anybody, any business built around 3D printing already have a tool they're using. If you got rid of your MK3 early because you were anticipating getting the MK4 soon, then that's on you. If you need to go another route with Bambu or  whomever, then do so. Supporting competition is one way to force Prusa to innovate with their product fulfillment as well as their product.

Another solution might be with your credit card company. I believe the laws (in the U.S. at least, and it might be a credit card company policy) state that only a "deposit" can be taken for a product until time of shipping. This is why Prusa specifically calls their payment a deposit. I would bet the credit card companies don't count a full payment as a deposit, they might even have rules about what percentage can be considered a deposit.

If you're one of the people upset about your money being held for so long, give your credit card company a call and kick up a stink about the deposit being the full price of the product. If credit card companies call Prusa out on this "deposit", then I bet Prusa changes their tune. It would possibly force them to implement a better fulfillment process because they would not be sitting on the cash, but only on the promise of the cash once the product goes out.
