RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
While back I bought aftermarket enclosure very similar to prusa but with a lot of extra features including lock filtration system etc it's made by Fystec... Honestly the quality is phenomenal. I'm about to build the mmu3 and enclose my MK4.. still looking for solution as far as mounting
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Hmm, looks like the fire extinguisher tube, which is mounted on the underside of the lid, prevents mounting the buffer kit.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Maybe the mounting brackets in my mounting kit can help.
Hope there will be a usefull Solution for the Buffer - currently i just laid it onto the Hinged Lid while Using the (un)original Drybox
This is exactly what I was referring to in my prior post. Glad to see you posted. I’ll be using your setup once I get my kit next week.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I'm now using the same brackets to mount the buffer on top of the lid, rather than on the underside. But does the fire extinguisher use the same holes?

RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Not sure, but please see attached photo. I always figured that the rectangular cutout in the middle of the lid was ment for some form of dry box PTFE cable passtrough, and then to the MMU3.. I like your idea of mounting the bracket on top, I will have a look.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Yes, the fire extinguisher tube does indeed use the same holes as my mounting brackets. But if the buffer is mounted on top, I see no reason why the brackets and the extinguisher couldn't share the same holes. Worst case, you might need screws that are a few millimetres longer than the supplied M3x12 - the heads would fit in the nut recesses that I've included in the brackets.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I received my MK4 MMU today. I have the MK4 installed in the Prusa Enclosure with the Power Supply and Display mounted outside.
Where did you get the spool storage / drybox?
Any suggestions other than a hinged lid?
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Any update on this topic? Will the MMU3 fit in the enclosure with the MK4?
Update on my notes. MMU3 same size as MMU2 If MMU3 mounted the Prusa way, no problem fitting in the enclosure. If you are using squash ball feet or a paving stone under the printer, it depends on the style and how much height it makes. If the MMU2 fit, the MMU3 will fit.
If wanting to mount the MMU3 buffer in the enclosure see above comments.
There is an MK4 quick disconnect now.
I have moved the screen to the outside of the enclosure. There is enough cable if you route the screen cable more straight than following the frame.
The MMU3 buffer has only a little size difference vs. the MMU2 buffer. The change is all the PTFE tubes enter/exit from the same side now. With Cassette loading. I still have it oustide the enclosure currently.
The stock MMU3 legs will mount the MMU3 the same as the MMU2. The new legs let you put it horizontal for maintanence, but not for running.
This is a preference, not mandatory. If you want the MMU to run Horizontal this is where it gets fun. See my MK4/MMU3 notes for all the details with measurements and links to the horizontal mounting legs. Mounting horizontal you have to make sure the MMU3 will clear the Nextruder, MMU3 mount is taller when horizontal, but still fits if the printer has not been raised by paving stones, squash ball feet etc. The Super Finda wire is the highest part of the MMU3 when mounted horizontal.
There were mods for mounting the MMU2 control board under the MMU for visibility and access. Mounting the MMU3 control board UNDER the MMU3 is not supported and probably not recommended because of EMI concerns Prusa found along the way. Would have to re-invent their EMI fixes to change how it is mounted.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I’m very close to being 100% done with my setup. I’m using Chris Hill’s mounting bracket under the lid and his filament guides. I put my 5th spool holder in the back right corner.
All I have left to do is actually wire the plug from the MMU into the buddy board and I should be ready to go.
I also bought molex plugs and pins and will likely make my quick disconnect plug for the power supply.
I’ll post detailed pics of everything when I have it like I like it.

Hi, would love to see your setup! I am about to purchase a MK$+MMU3+enclosure and I am trying to figure out if there is a a way to keep all the system nicely arranged in a compact form factor such as the Bambu x1c. It is a pity that there is no official guide to do this, found a couple of solutions at printables but it seems that they still are WIP. Ideally I would like to mount the buffer inside the enclosure so there are no tubes all over the place and the rolls nicely arranged on top. Many thanks!
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a project I've been working on—a complete setup for the MK4/S MMU3 inside an Original Prusa Enclosure.
https://www.printables.com/model/1014150-complete-solution-for-mk4s-mmu3-with-enclosure-wit
Key highlights:
- The enclosure is used without the top lid, allowing the space to hold filament spools.
- Integrated Tuya Indoor Air Quality Tester to monitor the air inside, which also helps verify the HEPA filter's effectiveness.
- Beagle V2 Camera for real-time monitoring, sending images directly to Prusa Connect.
- AI anomaly detection using OpenAI.
Feel free to check it out, and I hope this can inspire similar setups! Thanks to all the model creators who made this possible.
