MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Is the MK4 enclosure ready for the MMU3?
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Is it even ready for the MK4? lol
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Still missing are a quick connector for the PSU (from Prusa for the MK3S+) and a display quick connector (from the community for the MK3S+). But you can make it work. I don't know if an enclosure assembly manual from Prusa for the MK4 has appeared in the meantime, but I could manage with the manual for the MK3S+.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Any update on this topic? Will the MMU3 fit in the enclosure with the MK4?
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I am running an MK4 in an enclosure with the Power supply mounted externally and the display still mounted to the MK4.
The MMU3 does not change the basic dimensions of the MMU from MMU2. The MK4 frame is the same dimensions as the MK3s. They all fit in an eclosure. I have some pictures here with the MMU mounted Horizontally in an enclosure. It takes more height horizontally. I prefer it horizontal. I also have squash ball feet on the MK4 which raises it 20mm/0.8". There would be more top clearance without the squash ball feet.
If you have not added the lid option for an enclosure, I would suggest you have a lid on the enclosure when using an MMU. I drilled a few extra holes in the side and top to side mount the hinges for my lid. It opens to the right, not the back.
As stated, there is no quick disconnect for the MK4 power supply cables yet. The cables are just long enough to mount the power supply outside. I modified the MK3s quick disconnect for the MK4 cables. 2 wires change. The display cable has to be re-routed if you want the display outside. My display is inside the enclosure. For me it is safer keeping it protected from people walking by. Currently no quick disconnect for the display cable. Disconnecting and reconnecting the 2 MK3s+ display cables was no problem for me. The MK4 display connector is 1 connector and in my opinion a little more delicate. I wouldn't want to unplug it too many times.
The wifi and Prusa link has reduced my interaction with the display. I hardly ever remove the USB stick. I can manage and upload files along with starting, stopping and monitoring a print from Prusalink.

RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Prusa support confirmed that the MMU3 is compatible with the MK4 and Prusa Enclosure. You can follow the steps described in the "Hinged Lid" addon assembly guide: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/6-hinged-lid-add-on_354154 (Support confirmed as well that steps are the same, even though it shows the MMU2S with an Original Prusa I3).
They also told me that the assembly guide for the MK4 together with the MMU3 & Enclosure is work in progress.
I have the Enclosure with all addons and the MK4 as well - very keen to try out the MMU3 later on, since my kids want multi colored toys 😉
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
does anyone know if the mk4 and mmu3 will work with the Ikea lack enclosure in the same way the mmu2 did?
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Hi,
no, I wait for my Upgrade-Kits. But I work on the Printing Parts. Some Parts make I with PA12 with SLS Printing. This was good at MMU2 and I think, at MMU3 is this not a mistake. The Idler and Idler Body and the Selektor became a PA12 SLS finish. The rest of the parts are Standard - the Elo will I modifiy like MMU2s, to reduce the sensor-cable - i don´t like the orginal way to stretch and push... I´ve seen, that they now use Push fittings to hold the 5 Bowden Tubes - like I has modified my MMU2s - I thought, i must change it another one, but they heard us User, that this is terrible - if one must be changed and has not the exactly outer Perimeters, the troubles began... The reason, I changed the completly body of my MMU2s to M10 Push Fittings with no Push Plate for the Tubes and Selector-Part with no bottom, that cuted Parts can not blockade the Selektor... There is a peel between the MMU-holders.
But, if I look at the print parts, I wonder why you think it should work differently - other than better? 😉 I see nothing, what will be make problems... But let me know, If you found anything... Sorry, for my worst english, but I hope, you understand me...

RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Can anyone post a pic of their MK4 + MMU3 + Enclosure? Trying to get a "real world feel" of the footprint / space it'll require with multiple spools in place, etc.
Thanks,
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I just put together my MK4 with the enclosure and I'm already eyeing the MMU3. There seems to be plenty of space above the printer in the enclosure. Can someone confirm that it works? Does it need the hinged lid and/or quick release PSU addons?

The MK4/Enclosure/MMU3 will play nice together once the MMU3 for the MK4/3.9 is available.
The hinged lid will make working on the MMU3 at lot easier due to the improved access.
The MK4 PSU quick release is nice but not required.
I would consider the LED lighting if you don't have it. It makes seeing the prints and working on the printer easier when you can see it.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I was under the impression that it was already available :'(
Yes, I was printing today with a black filament and I could barely see it. I will definitely want an LED strip there.
I don't really understand why it needs a separate power supply with a separate power cord, it seems like a very hacky solution. One power supply should easily be able to handle the small amount of current needed for the LED strip :S
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Hi,
Soon I will upgrade my prusa mk3 + mmu2s to mk4 and mmu3. I'm considering to buy encolsure in full option - with air filter, led etc. Do you think it will need some hacks to use it with mk4 + mmu3? I'm very busy person and do not want to waste my time on own modification.
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Just got my tracking number for mmu3 for MK4 yesterday which means they started shipping hopefully they worked out all the bugs
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I am really interested in feedback about Enclosure + MKR4 + MMU3
If community is positive, I will buy this as well...
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
Hi there, I started out with the mk4, soon thereafter added the enclosure, then added all the accessories i.e the filter, led strip, fire extinguisher, etc and last week (finally) the MMU3. Everything is up and running, only thing left is some form of spoolholder box on top of the enclosure hinge. Now I’m looking at the rig and just wonder “why didn’t I just order a single toolhead XL and take it from there?”
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
To add, everything works and I had fun assembling the whole thing, it just feels a tad ‘kludgey”. Multiple power supplies, multiple control boards, no proper spool management, no camera option, all a bit hap snap. It’s my first 3D printer and I probably went in with the wrong expectations.
Having said all this, the printer in itself works brilliantly and the customer service is fantastic, couldn’t praise them enough. If you already have a mk4 I have no reservations recommending the enclosure+MMU3 setup. A Prusa branded spoolholder would be nice though…
RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
I'm kind of in the same boat - Arround 1730 Euros all in all (Enclosure with Filter/Light + MK4 Kit + MMU3). In hindsight maybe would have been easier to pay Additional 400/800 Extra to get XL with with single or dualhead and Upgrade from there.
Hope there will be a usefull Solution for the Buffer - currently i just laid it onto the Hinged Lid while Using the (un)original Drybox

Maybe the mounting brackets in my mounting kit can help.

RE: MK4 + enclosure + MMU3
There are a few solutions to mount it to the underside or topside of the lid already. Check out printables.com. I’d post a link now but can’t at the moment.
