MK4 Denting Sheets , has this been fixed ?

I’m considering getting a second printer this Black Friday.

My MK3S+ is still working well, but I need an extra one.

Has the issue of sheet denting been resolved with the new firmware? I’m a bit hesitant because I see many negative comments on the forums about various issues, which seems to be pushing people towards other brands like Bambu.

I enjoy my MK3S+, and when I look at multiple forums where people have other printers and the numerous issues they experience, my MK3S just keeps on going. Therefore, I would like to think that it makes sense to go with a brand that has not let me down.

My MK4 hasn‘t dented any sheets. Sometimes, little specks of filament get deposited on the sheet during bed levelling, but that‘s what scrapers are for. 🙂

In my opinion, the MK4 is a great thing to buy, but make sure to get the satin sheet as well. That one is incredibly good for both PLA and PETG and it should really be the standard sheet for the MK4 instead of the smooth one.

Thanks ... The Satin sheet was already in my cart selected 😉  ... As I already have the textured sheet as well , which works awesomely with PETG ...

No dents on my 2+ week old factory assembled Mk4, either satin or textured.

Same as the others, no dents, sometimes little dots of filament at the points where it probed. One thing I've noticed is that I can use some old worn-out sheets from my MK3S which I had given up on due to poor adhesion, and they work fine.

Im sure its all fixed. Seems to be more gentle with the nozzle drops in newer firmware versions. No dents on any of my plates. Printer is around a month old

I often get the grid of little specs of filament from the probe. Mildly annoying, but overall I find the MK4 handles nozzle oozing way better than my MK3.

I'm still using the MK3’s sheets on the MK4. Initially because I was afraid of dents, but roughly 3 months in and I have zero dents. Now, I just haven’t bothered to change. The sheets are working fine.

The one report of denting I saw was related to the nozzle not being tight.  I have built three MK4/MK3.9 and put a few hundred hours on them.  No denting.   Even with the older 4.7.x firmware I saw no denting.

Thanks for the feedback. Well Ive placed my Kit order, my biggest understanding is as with the mk3S+ which I have learnt, with most issues are self introduced errors. So will just need to take it one step at a time when building and re-check everything twice.

On the the MK3S+,  I would have loved a warning  when it one does  a sheet change , so that you remember to change the sheet profile on the printer as well, I more than once forgot to change my profile when switching between PEI and textured sheets ... but at least now this should be a thing of the past when using the MK4  ...

There may be several issues at work related to the sheets. My MK4 didn't "dent" the sheet, but it bubbled it fiercely. The PEI delaminated where print was located.

For troubleshooting purposes, I swapped the sheets with my MK3+. Result is, MK3 printing on MK4 sheet does not add new delamination (bubbles). The MK4 printing on the MK3 sheet damages it a little bit, but nothing like it did to its own sheet. So it seems like a combination of the way MK4 heats the bed and the quality of the factory sheets. I am looking for resilient steel sheets aftermarket, or old stock for MK3+.

I came from a MK3S... Its not a huge upgrade, but it is literally better in every way, just not by a ton. Its like going from an iPhone 4 to a 4s lol... For me, I've only ever used the textured sheet on either machine for PLA, ABS and PETG, and its all I ever plan to use.
