every time I run a print the mk4 runs a calibration, all that banging cant be good , can it?

Calibration=normal, Banging=NOT normal;)
Then again people's subjective experience of a particular incident or observation can greatly differ from the next person. Post up a short video of your "so called problem" and let people judge for themselves:)

The printer homes the axis before every print. That means moving to the hard stop so it knows where it's at. The MK3 did the same thing. It's completely normal.
If you feel what your printer is doing is excessive maybe take a video and put it on YouTube and post a link here. We can tell you if it's normal.
