RE: is it possible to convert a jpeg

I've never used inkscape, I always use this online converter and never had any problems with Fusion reading the resultant svg.

There wasn't any problem with fusion reading this one either, a case of pebcak.

I use Inkscape as a lot of the time I want to clean up the image afterwards and Inkscape is good to do that

You can absolutely convert a JPEG into an editable outline, but you’ll need to turn it into a vector file first. Fusion can’t properly edit JPEG/PNG because they’re raster images. I usually handle this by doing a raster to vector conversion online, then exporting the result as SVG or DXF so it’s fully editable in Fusion. Once you have the vector outline, you can scale, clean it up, or even prep it for other workflows like CAD/embroidery.
