4.5.4 Firmware for Original Prusa MK4

The initial release of the MK4 firmware

This is the first public GitHub release of the firmware for the printer Original Prusa MK4. The firmware is tailored for the xBuddy board developed by Prusa Research. Some parts of the code are shared with the Buddy board used in the Original Prusa MINI+ and the XLBuddy board used in the XL.

The xBuddy board is responsible for controlling the entire system and communicates in real-time with the other parts of the printer like the Nextruder.

The firmware is utilizing Marlin 2.0 to handle motion planning with significant changes to comply with the Prusa in-house developed technologies. The user interface, WebUI and other firmware parts have been fully developed at Prusa Research.

We will describe the entire MK4 architecture in detail in the upcoming dev diary.

To update the firmware;
Copy the firmware file (.bbf) onto the USB drive with FAT32 formatting Insert the flash drive in the MK4's USB port Turn the printer ON (or reboot it) A new screen will appear Confirm you want to flash the firmware

Yes, this firmware 4.5.4 is installed on the MK4 in factory.

For the most part, the tree supports are pretty solid. I've found them to be horrible on finely detailed objects, but otherwise they're a real pleasure to remove from solid surfaces. They use a lot less material and are much quicker.

Get Prusaslicer pre-release here.

User beware though, there are a lot of issues with the alpha build which is to be expected, but for the most part under basic use its problem free.
