there's zero reason you have to print the parts in black,

I did them in fun abs color.

Any technical reason I couldn't print everything in non-black? The filament sensor is a hall effect now, so I don't think the color matters.

I can report that the black extruder parts make dealing with the wiring more difficult -- there's very little contrast without a lot of light.

The 3.9 kit I just got provides 400 grams of PETG to print your upgrade parts with.

Upgrades assume you have a working printer to print the parts with. Keeping costs down on the upgrade is one point, time is the other. Many of us customize the colors anyway.

I printed parts a while back. Most changes are for ease of assembly. A few parts are an improvement. I don't plan on reprinting most of the parts I have done. Just the ones that are a real change.

I ordered 7/28 and am getting the 3.9 upgrade tomorrow. This will be my third MK4/MK3.9 kit. They are making great presents for my adult children and their families.

Just went to "order" it and yes, it disappeared. OR I did not remember that - can anyone who ordered before/after April confirm that there were a selection whether we want printed parts or print part on our own?

I have not seen an option to buy the printed parts list yet for the MK 4, or any of the upgrade versions.

I did print out one set early in the game...now that most of the parts have undergone a rev update or two; thinking I might need to print them out again.

When I placed my order in Oct 3, there was no option to order a kit with printed parts. I guess it's Prusa's way to keep the cost down and speed up delivery of the upgrade kits.

I received my upgrade from MK3S+ to MK4 last week. I did not start upgrade it yet but my MK3S+ was apart due to layer shift issue - ultimately, I decided to wait till I receive the upgrade to "fix" the layer shift issue. My other MK3S+ (silver PSU) is currently in middle with MMU3 putting together, but I'm trying to overhaul the surround (i.e. adding shelf, line up PTFE hoses, building dry boxes, etc...) that are connect to MMU3. So, I didn't finish it yet.

Then I was waiting for a certain part from Amazon for my MMU3 project, I decided to take a look at the MK4 upgrade and I learned that I somehow clicked "no plastic parts" when I pre-ordered the upgrade. 😭 🤣 So, I'm having my two Minis to run some prints for MK4 plastics. 🤣
