Mine just shipped today. I was a day one purchase for a full mk3 to mk4 upgrade order ending in 1169.
I've upgrad d my machine from a MK2 to a mk2s, to a 2.5 to a 3, 3mmu, 3smmu, 3s+my and now a mk4. It's the printer equivalent of the ship of Theseus, but it was my first printer and I love it very much.

I just completed upgrading my second MK3S printer to MK4. So far so good.

They had issues with stepper motors. Obviously, you will want working product before they ship. read here
Unfortunately, their supplier is unable to make the stepper motors as fast as they can use them, this is slowing down the shipping timeline across the board. You're still going to get your printers 🙂
I feel that the shipping tables are not super accurate, nor should they be at this point, all estimations.

Problems or not, some people have been waiting 6 months for their upgrade. How can it be that new printer orders can be completed within 5 weeks?

That answer is sort of easy - there are 30ish versions of the MK III so the upgrade path to the MK IV is not so simple. Some of the differences are bound to be in the zero impact range due to the fact that the part would be just swapped out no matter what version you would be starting with. Other parts like the soldered heat bed would be radically different.
If I was upgrading the newest MK IIIS+ to MK IV - I would have already had the kit.

Perhaps Prusa Research should learn from this experience that it should not have tried to support so many upgrade paths. I'm sure that their delays with the upgrade path have left a number of MK3S+ owners with a poor opinion of the company.

I have a mk3 from 2020 with the black power supply and the 5 screws heat bed. and still nothing happens. Prusa points out on the information page about shipping times that the upgrades cannot be delivered due to faulty stepper motors. This in turn really annoys me because the available engines seem to be preferred for the complete MK4. There's no need to sugarcoat anything here, it's an absolute disgrace that you pay for something and it doesn't come along for months.

Got the upgrade boxes today. Did the survey. Never got the PSU vouchers. Now have to order PSU's and upgrade my printers. Not very happy.

When I did the survey; I filled in I will pay xxx more for the new power supply. A few weeks ago I received a e-mail indicating I needed to pay the discount on my order for the power supply hardware. Paid it....so no real voucher, but discount on the power supply.
Right now box 2 of 2 of my hardware upgrade is kicking back in Cincinnati cooling it's heels waiting to be found.

I agree, they should collect all the optimizations and put them in one official release to the next. It sounds like they just willy nilly add updates as the build them. This means that an MK3S shipped on monday could be different from one shipped on friday. While they are both MK3S machines but aren't the same. I know I bought two MK3S( that I just upgraded to MK4s) back late 2020 and early 2021. These were only months apart but some of the fasteners were different. Also some of the x carriage printed parts were different. That seems like a support nightmare. I bought both my printers fully assembled originally, but imagine throwing in the variable of folks building their own from kit form! The instructions for the MK3S->MK4 upgrade were great, but I can totally see folks not reading everything and getting a poor build as a result. I count myself fortunate that my upgrades went well as it seems many folks have had issues with ringing/ghosting/vfa.

I've been very happy with the upgrade on the two printers I've done it on. knock on wood, it was worth the wait. I'd definitely check x and y rods for any grooves and preemptively replacements for those and the matching bearings. first printer I got apart and upon further inspection found the grooves so I had to wait a week for the two sets of everything to arrive before I could continue the upgrade on the first printer. Also check that you've got all the printed parts!

I received my upgrade from MK3S+ to MK4 last week. I did not start upgrade it yet but my MK3S+ was apart due to layer shift issue - ultimately, I decided to wait till I receive the upgrade to "fix" the layer shift issue. My other MK3S+ (silver PSU) is currently in middle with MMU3 putting together, but I'm trying to overhaul the surround (i.e. adding shelf, line up PTFE hoses, building dry boxes, etc...) that are connect to MMU3. So, I didn't finish it yet.
Then I was waiting for a certain part from Amazon for my MMU3 project, I decided to take a look at the MK4 upgrade and I learned that I somehow clicked "no plastic parts" when I pre-ordered the upgrade. 😭 🤣 So, I'm having my two Minis to run some prints for MK4 plastics. 🤣

When I placed my order in Oct 3, there was no option to order a kit with printed parts. I guess it's Prusa's way to keep the cost down and speed up delivery of the upgrade kits.

I have not seen an option to buy the printed parts list yet for the MK 4, or any of the upgrade versions.
I did print out one set early in the game...now that most of the parts have undergone a rev update or two; thinking I might need to print them out again.

Upgrades assume you have a working printer to print the parts with. Keeping costs down on the upgrade is one point, time is the other. Many of us customize the colors anyway.
I printed parts a while back. Most changes are for ease of assembly. A few parts are an improvement. I don't plan on reprinting most of the parts I have done. Just the ones that are a real change.
I ordered 7/28 and am getting the 3.9 upgrade tomorrow. This will be my third MK4/MK3.9 kit. They are making great presents for my adult children and their families.

The 3.9 kit I just got provides 400 grams of PETG to print your upgrade parts with.

Any technical reason I couldn't print everything in non-black? The filament sensor is a hall effect now, so I don't think the color matters.
I can report that the black extruder parts make dealing with the wiring more difficult -- there's very little contrast without a lot of light.

there's zero reason you have to print the parts in black,
I did them in fun abs color.
