Suggestions for first layer improvement?

I'm having a lot of inconsistent first layer issues, but there's not yet an official troubleshooting procedure I've found.

Sometimes, prints come out as advertised -- perfect. Sometimes the prints work, but the first layer is clearly not squished enough. Sometimes the prints don't stick and a mushroom cloud starts to form. I've seen the same kinds of behaviors on a couple of different sheets of each type (satin, smooth)

Any generalized troubleshooting suggestions? There have been some claims that the Obxidian nozzles aren't quite as big as claimed. I have  not yet tried a regular brass 0.6mm nozzle.

Printer: MK4, kit   Slicer 2.6.1 (latest config files   Firmware 5.0.0

Filament: Overture PETG -- pretty well dried, using Prusament profile

Nozzle: ObXidian, 0.6mm (with sock)

Beds: PEI and satin. Well cleaned with dishsoap and IPA

I am not sure how you would measure the nozzle hole.

What make you say that the filament is dry?  Have you dried it over night?

RE: Suggestions for first layer improvement?

There's a thread here in the forum about Obxidian nozzle diameter -- someone did a proxy measurement with acupuncture needles. https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/english-forum-original-prusa-i3-mk4-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/obsidian-nozzle-has-a-smaller-diameter-than-supposed/#post-677761

With regards to dry, I go a couple of hours at 65C or so. Wet filament can always be an issue, but there's no popping and it worked fine with similar process on my MK3. Easy enough to go a full overnight, but it would be a little annoying if the new fancy printer actually requires more filament drying caution than the MK3.

2-3 months, I have had not issues.  I guess it could be the nozzle.  I have not used one yet.

Prusa chat suggested checking the thumbscrews. Good suggestion -- if the hotend isn't tight, it would result in flaky printing.

Unfortunately, mine seem to be appropriately tight.

RE:

I'm having the same problem.

The temporary solution is

1. Output execution

2. Run Stop

3. Run output again

I've confirmed that it's output normally if I do it as above, but I hope it'll be resolved soon. It's quite uncomfortable.
