Different extruder steps between MK3.5 and MK3

I did the conversion from MK3s+ to MK3.5.
However, I have fitted a slightly modified extruder. A modified version of the Bunny Science.
After the conversion, I had to correct the steps for the gear ratio, which was 280 to 980 at the time.
After the conversion, however, I noticed that the MK3.5 has 266 steps. Can anyone give me a hint as to why?

It should be the same old MK3 extruder. I thought they would at least be the same.
I have now changed it to 980 anyway. However, I always over-extrude a little.
If I convert it using the new extruder values, I should now go to 931 steps.

I think I'll test it first, can anyone confirm the 266 when reading it out?

RE: Different extruder steps between MK3.5 and MK3

I used this calculator https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html#esteps today to resolve under extrusion on my Mk3.5.  In the test it was under extruding by 7mm with the default 266, I ended up at 291 (set via the experimental hardware menu).  I was able to do all of the tests and updating the settings all on the printer itself, which is a huge change vs the Mk3s+.

I just used the Control --> Move Axis to extrude 100mm and then perform the measurements.

I would then use the "experimental menu" to adjust the steps per unit, save/reboot and then test again to refine it. I would imaging going from the 266 to 980 would be bit extreme, perhaps the new firmware counts things differently than the old one. Initially I was debating on powering up my old board to copy the settings out, but decided to just go this route instead.
