Response to Very Short Power Glitch
I was about 1.5 hours into a 4 hour print. There was a very short power glitch in our home. It was only noticeable as a short hiccup on our TV (a fraction of a second). My printer must have responded by resetting, and it froze in mid print. I went into the menu and retracted the head with the Z-axis, and trashed the partial print.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue, and was wondering if there should be a way to "continue" the print. Since the printhead cooled, I would not expect to have any way to save it. I plan to get a UPS to try to insulate the printer from any further power issues.
RE: Response to Very Short Power Glitch
I live in a remote part of Spain, power outages are common, freak electrical storms. Many years ago I purchased a UPS Uninterupted Power supply, this has saved many valuable hours of wasted print.Connected to 2 printers and dryers. Good for 2 hours of backup. The model of UPS I use is SALICRU
It depends somewhat on the nature of the outage; if it's a clean off followed by a clean on a few seconds/minutes later then the print can be resumed safely. If the power stutters, flickers and effectively switches on and off several times in succession so that the power is re-lost during the machine's recovery then the machine will lose its place and recovery is impossible.
And of course if the outage lasts a long time or you cannot get to the machine soon enough it will cool and the print dislodge so again, recovery fails.
Cheerio,
