Print sometimes shifting mid-print
I'm Having an issue with my print shifting during the print. I've done this same print 5 times, 3 times it printed fine, the other 2 the print shifted by a lot mid-print. The shift happened at different points in the print also.
Any ideas what could have caused this? I am recalibrating and printing again to see, but I can't find any obvious issues.
RE: Print sometimes shifting mid-print
Looks like poor bed adhesion and one or more of the parts came loose and caused an extruder XY movement stall. Be sure the bed is absolutely clean (soap and water clean) and retry. Small parts require extra preflight conditions... they just don't adhere as well as larger parts, no room for even a single fingerprint.
As an aside, it is highly likely you'll have much better luck printing a lot fewer of those parts in one go. Print 10 at a time, not 100.
RE: Print sometimes shifting mid-print
All the parts are secure to the bed. The layer movement happens exactly the same with all the parts at the same layer when it happens, but has happened at different points in the print.
RE: Print sometimes shifting mid-print
My only thought is the filament line got tangled and disrupted the print head travel momentarily. So far the latest print is doing fine.
RE: Print sometimes shifting mid-print
If a part didn't come loose, and judging by the melted spots (blue) on parts that are below the crash line, maybe there was a power fail and the printer reset and tried recovering the print. Normally it is rare to have the nozzle move lower than the current extrusion level during a print. And clearly it did. Also, a closer look shows a part with missing perimeters (red), a sign some of the gcode was missed: two causes are common: power fail, and printing through Octoprint with too slow a connection or a slow Rpi.
