Prusameter reward system reduced even further
It appears that the Prusameter rewards system is gradually being scaled back. Recently Prusa removed the 3 spool coupon, now only 2 spools can be ordered at a time. This increases the shipping costs unnecessarily. What constraint is next?
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
yeah.. I just shake my head at many things Prusa does these days.. A lot are well intentioned, but so poorly executed.. At over $60 for shipping , Duty, & Customs service charges, it was never worth using below 3 spools for Canada.

Is this even beneficial to anyone?

Well I joined Printables 6 weeks ago and have now completed 2 Prusameter spools (mainly with downloads and likes, not with makes). I was going to wait for a 3 spool pack but that's not possible anymore.
It's certainly not profitable for me, but it helps to at least partially finance the filament needed to create the test prints of my designs. Some of the iterations of my designs I've made only at the request of Printable users, and most I've printed as a test, although I don't need them myself.
However, I recently watched an influencer designer switching to printables with a ton of designs, and he (perhaps thanks to his followers) also received tons of downloads and likes. I would imagine that this is actually profitable.
Anyway, I now believe that this Prusameter system will not live in a reasonable frame for much longer ...

Maybe if you live in the European part of the world it is actually worthwhile?

I guess as always, the correct answer is "it depends". I haven't cashed anything in in a long time, but the last time I used a two roll voucher, paid $16 for Fedex shipping of 2 spools of ASA to the US, and had it in my mailbox three days later. That's $8 for top quality filament that retails at $27, how is that not a good thing? I can't get decent ASA anywhere for $8 plus shipping.

Hello all;
I followed up with this and checked. The vouchers for the 3 prusament spool rewards were out of stock and will be replinished today. There was no changes to the reward system. Apologies for any confusion this caused.

Great news! The coupon is back now, thanks for checking!
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
Nice to see a misconception cleared up (maybe could have been avoided by leaving the out of stock item on the site with a not saying will be back soon?).
thanks
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
Of course I can't help but wonder how an electronic voucher can ever be out of stock…

For us (Canada), it depends on how it is shipped. All things I’ve ordered from AliExpress (and I’ve done at least 70 orders or so) for 3D projects come with a relationship to ship with Canada Post. It does not go thru the customs process, even though some parts (motors, ESC) might be up to $200. I don’t even pay Tax.. not sure how that happens.. But goods shipped via the carriers Prusa use seem to stop at our Canadian Customs shop where we have to pay 15% tax on the value of the order and then to clear customs, a customs “broker” has to get involved on your behalf and their flat fee is $30-35, plus the duty charge, I think. And maybe it won’t be cheaper if we had a distributor. A recent YouTube video said that a Printed Solid (USA) MK3+ shipped to a person in the states was no cheaper than buying directly from Prusa as the Prusa shipping charge was added to PrintedSolid’s US price.. (PrintedSolid now has a relationship to resell & service Prusa’s printers) That is just from the Net.. no idea whether true.. I’d like to try more Prusament, but from 2 online Canadian vendors that carry Prusament, the prices are $50 and $60/1kg spool, plus shipping & tax. From Amazon, Eryone is anywhere from $25-30, Polymaker $30, Overture-$30 (all with no shipping charge as I subscribe to “Prime”). And from Eryone’s online store you can buy 5 spools for about $16/spool. I’m not a fan of Eryone’s customer support, but their filament has worked very well in many dimensionally accurate models (both PLA & PETG). Amazon is nice because you can just order 1 spool if you’ve been caught short and it arrives in about 2 days at a landed cost of about $35. (These Cdn pricing, US equiv is about 25% less)

I believe it is not uncommon to have an allotted amount of vouchers for a certain amount of time. Prusa probably uses it internally to prevent irregularities from occuring.

In other words, if somebody figures out an exploit, they can only steal just so much before it is discovered.

Out of virtual stock?
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
X amount of codes are created and are in "stock" on our side and issued out when needed. Then it got low and needed more codes to be generated.

RE:
Why can´t people just be happy to have a reliable web server hosted by Prusa to put stuff in and to take other stuff out, just like it worked with Thingiverse for years?
So, Prusa gave away filament, now they are reducing the offer? Even if they eliminate it, it´s their absolute right to do so, just like everyone here is free to tell the boss not to be willing to work for free. Don´t like it? Is anyone being forced to leave print models there?
There is no such thing as a free lunch, live with it.
Just my 2 cents.
I try to give answers to the best of my ability, but I am not a 3D printing pro by any means, and anything you do you do at your own risk. BTW: I have no food for…

Looks like they still are , atleast in EU. I finally got my 1050 points 🙂
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
I only need 24925 more Prusameters and that new MK4 is all mine!!!
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
Hi!
are the vouchers for the 3 and 2 prusament spool rewards just out of stock actually?
Thank you,
Ed
RE: Prusameter reward system reduced even further
I saw a post on social media the other day that explained as filament is so out of stock they have temporarily removed the prusameters for 2 & 3 rolls. It should come back when the production can meet demand. So possibly never 😉
