Why feeding filaments to the MMU2S from the back of the enclosure instead of from the top?

Hi, I see that for the enclosure V2, filament spools are put on the top of the enclosure but instead of just entering the enclosure from the top, they are routed to the back. Is there any advantage doing that?

Has anybody feed the filaments to the MMU2S from the top of a cabinet? Does it work well?

Does it have to come from the back? No. But this seems like a quite efficient way to leverage the space on the top for the filament buffer you need to handle retractions for filament swaps. Can you put the filament buffer somewhere else? Sure.

Thanks. Where is the most optimal position for the filament and the filament buffer?

It's all explained in the LACK V2 assembly instructions. https://blog.prusaprinters.org/mmu2s-printer-enclosure_30215/.

Of course, folks have come up with replacement filament buffers as well as auto-rewind spools.

Personally, I've given up on the MMU2S. In my hands it was too temperamental and I wasn't willing to spend the time and effort "debugging" it when I only foresee using it occasionally.
