Why does it seem Prusa is not very active on this forum?
Is my impression right, and does Prusa seem to prefer Reddit and Discord for communication?
And if so, why is that?

I’m hoping that changes when we get the new forum software.
RE: Why does it seem Prusa is not very active on this forum?
For sure!
I cannot understand why they are not very active in building this forum up so there is a database of solutions for people to find.
Are they busy with new software for the forum?

Can't speak for Prusa why they prefer the cesspools of Reddit and particularly Discord but one thing that might be a factor is the crazy proliferation of subforms here that makes it hard to keep track of "interesting" stuff. Even the "New Post" screen is harder to scan than the Prusa subreddit.

Isn't it supposed to be a user-to-user forum, mainly? And I think that's a good thing, you'll frequently hear opinions that aren't perfectly aligned with the marketing department.
>> crazy proliferation of subforms
probably a bad time to suggest a dedicated subforum for Prusa bashing 😀

I've never been able to wrap my head around Reddit. It just seems a jumbled mess to me. I suppose I'm just "using it wrong"

That's not the worst idea I have heard. Since Prusa has been pretty good about leaving threads/posts critical of it up, I don't think it would be too much for them to ask that users keep that confined to a place set aside for it. Then moderators would be able to move threads where the company is being "discussed vigorously" to the "fight club" section set aside for that, and reserve the other sections for technical help and other more constructive discussions.
RE: Why does it seem Prusa is not very active on this forum?
Well yes, but what I miss here is the interaction with Prusa, news, talks etc.
Of course there is a need to talk to users, I have that too. But I would expect the first news and updates, would be communicated here. Or ideas for software, hardware etc.
It is now such a spread on info. Github, Reddit, Discord... and forum as last somewhere.
@foxrun3d. I am on Reddit for years, but for me it is a chaos. I really cannot find anything there except through Google search.

They could call it the “Constructive Criticism” area. 🤣
RE: Why does it seem Prusa is not very active on this forum?
@foxrun3d. I am on Reddit for years, but for me it is a chaos.
Just to clarify-I wasn't suggesting Reddit as an example of a good forum system. I was simply saying that I find the complex organizational structure of this forum to add little value if any, compared to the one-dimensional structure of Reddit that makes it easier to find new articles of potential interest by scrolling. With that said, I find the quality of commentary here vastly superior to Reddit, which has too many people who don't know what they're talking about.
Discord... don't get me started. The few times I tried it I was desperately trying to scratch my eyes out. Just tried again today, with the Bondtech INDX discord, but life's just too short
I really cannot find anything there except through Google search
No disagreement from me. At the same time, that's pretty much true everywhere, including this very forum.

But... But... I'm here :p
I'm working on syncing things up a bit more so if something is announced, its on here at the same time. It's not a matter of favoring one system over the other, but a matter of getting the word out as far as possible, and one thing to keep in mind, not everyone is on every platform, and some have their areas to communicate. Personally I'm not a reddit person, and I am trying to dedicate more time here than discord to focus on this community here. There are times where there is a delay in posting things because with the hours I work, they "float" as needed. One week I could do a 9-5 thing, the following week I could do a 10pm-6am bit. It all depends on what is going on in the wonderful world of 3D Printing, and my current tasks, but when I see an update on my end, I post it on here.

Would the forum community find it useful to post a similar update here? (please say no... I hate typing :p )

Yup, the original idea was to have a place for users to interact with one another.

I would prefer just to have a IRL meet up, give them all thwack hammers and let them discus their viewpoints face to face. I do try and leave up negative posts as long as they do not break TOS. For me personally, I think having a dedicated space / section for people to vent would quickly turn into a free for all and open invitation just to bash and argue.
One of my main jobs as admin is to listen to the community here as a whole and if there is something that can be changed, or added, I am all up to discuss it.

I think we got agreement there.
The structure and software here should be completely different. I would also want a good logging feature that easily let people share their logs, but also settings from Slicers for analysis by others or just sharing what works.
Good search / filter, much better structure indeed.
It is time for Prusa to step up their game, as it is a fully grown company now, they should just dedicate the funds for it. It will grow out to the best database there is if they administrate it well. Much more value then these fast threads on other platforms full of shite.
Yesterday I made a funny comment on Reddit, at least I found it funny 😉 My account which is active since 2018, negative karma and I could not respond anymore. I mean What the Fuzz... and have to open each talk because replies stay hidden.
The good ol Forums work best for me.
What you guys like, Discourse, Flarum or Xenforo?
Personally I am not so negative about BBPress (i think this forum is this), but it needs to have some good upgrades.

Thanks a lot for responding Shane!
Communication on the forum does not always have to be typing. It can just be dropping the Youtube video with a little text.
I personally would love to have more interaction, so the possibility to talk to each other and then more centralized.
Could be forum, could be youtube session with people, but I see, and truly have not known before, there is a youtube channel where you guys have started!
Why is this not all over the forum, people should all know!
37 likes, 1000 views, 2.5 hundred followers, you are talking into the dark there if there is no better communication.
I would say, start to refer on other platforms to your forum. Drop links, have one communication outlet, and drop the referrals on others.
Much easier. Much more clean and traffic would increase here.
Try to make steps with the forum software, make choices and I would say, make mobile experience important. On my websites I see +80% traffic from mobile.
For my little research there are two serious options: Discourse or Flarum.
