What's going on with Prusa?

I chose a certain Prusament (Anthracite Grey) for my large long-term project. This has now been sold out for weeks and I will soon have to stop production. When I look at the other types of material from Prusa, I can see that around two thirds of them have been sold out for a long time. Does Prusa expect us to switch to a replacement product from another brand?

I have sent an inquiry to Prusa in this regard and am waiting for an answer (may be a lack of raw materials?).

I have received an answer from Prusa. Currently they have raw material delivery problems. Especially the filaments containing carbon are very popular and sold out quickly.

They could not give me an exact date for filament re-availability.

This may still take weeks. I have activated an email notification and will stock several rolls when they become available again.

That's what I had done (twice). The first time I got an email indicating that the product was available. But in the Prusa web-shop it was shown as available only for half a day. The second time when I got an email it was not at all shown as available.

Prusa filaments are also available on Amazon.

Otherwise there is nothing left to do but wait and see 😏

Popular stuff sells out quickly.  Find a different supplier that can keep you happy.  If there is one.

In times of need, the devil eats flies 😑

I recently had a problem with unavailable filament (PC Blend Carbon) and asked the community about it. A user sold me a roll. Maybe you can find someone near you.

Nice advise, but I usually need (and order) 12 to 20 rolls of this particular filament at once.

Wow, big project!

I have no more ideas either, except to look for a similar product.

If you are in the states -> https://www.printedsolid.com/products/prusament-petg-1-75mm-1kg-anthracite-grey

I'm not in the states. I am in Switzerland and I'm about to order extrudr PETG from 3DJAKE. Unfortunately it's not exactly the same color and it's more expensive, but it's excellent to print, gets a beautiful surface and there is a lot less stringing.

For that sort of quantity, I would be buying a few rolls to compare from different sources to work out the best alternative, then probably buy direct from China where 95% of filament is made

👍

Dealers in Switzerland -> https://www.snuups.ch

But unfortunately also a small stock.

I can definitely recommend Extrudr. I have only had good experiences with these filaments (not imported from China), dimensionally accurate and easy to print.

Nevertheless, I would only order 1 or 2 rolls for test purposes.

Hi

I'm also from Switzerland. I can recommend the following shop from Switzerland -> Filament.ch

Also I can highly recommend Extrudr to. I printed a lot with PETG filament from Extrudr and had never problems.

Cheers Patrick

RE: What's going on with Prusa?

My experience with Extrudr PETG has been a bit weird. It seems to print nicer than most PETGs but on the other side I had the impression that it is more brittle than other PETGs, almost as if it were half way towards PLA. I am not sure if I am just imagining that or if there is something about that specific PETG.

Patrick, thanks for your hint. In the meantime I have placed an order with 3djake.ch. It's an Austrian company that also operates in Switzerland. So far, my experience has been good.

I got the same impression from extrudr PETG as you write here, namely that it seems to be something between PLA and PETG. But that suits me very well, because in my projects it is not so clear that PETG is really needed in terms of stability.

The extrudr PETG produces much less stringing (even when not dried) and is extremely easy to print.

RE: What's going on with Prusa?

I've used a few different rolls of Extrudr NX2 PLA which prints nicely.  The one thing I would say about it is that it adheres to the smooth pei print sheet almost as much as petg does so you risk tearing out chunks if you are careful.  I've reduced my bed temp to 30 when using it.  Also sourced through 3dJake.  Their delivery to the UK is very quick too.

Been awhile since I used their petg but I never noticed it being brittle.
