RE: UK orders

Nah, you don't pay twice. It's a complication due to the ludicrous Brexit mess that some people voted for.

It doesn't make much difference, just a small extra fee by the couriers.

But the UK population has been royally screwed by our beloved prime minister, he promised free trade, what we have certainly isn't that.

3D printers have zero duty so this is one item that won't cost much more, some other goods will cost lots more to import from the EU now.

I don't live in the UK anymore but that sounds totally unfair. Pricee in the Prusa Shop include VAT. So does that mean you have to pay VAT twice?

You don't, you only pay it once - Though the cost of the goods will change exactly when that payment is due. The rules are now that for things under £135 the EU seller has to add on the VAT and give it to the UK government, while for things over £135 the VAT is instead charged by the people delivering it, be it an international courier like DHL or a national post service like the Royal Mail (I can't remember what happens at exactly £135, it's one thing or the other). If the price goes over £135 then the VAT gets knocked off at the point of sale by Prusa. You just need to remember that the VAT is still chargeable, and will be added to your delivery cost by the delivery company, which must be paid before they can legally hand the ownership of the package to you. And of course because they are now the final point where the government expects them to resolve any tax issues, the delivery companies are adding an admin charge to cover their additional costs to either prove the VAT is already paid, or to collect and transfer the VAT to UK customs.

RE: UK orders

Hey everyone.

New member, and soon to be first MK3S+ owner.

Ordered a MK3S+ kit on Friday, and find myself stalking the website and forums looking for the time fast forward button, cant seem to find it anywhere. 🤔  Patience never was one of my strong points.

Moving up (just a tad) from a Creality Ender 3, which has been a pain in the rear.

Hoping to get it in less than 3-4 weeks.....Fingers crossed

Tank you very much!

@clarmrrsn

You will not be unhappy, but be patient, there is a slight learning curve form the Ender-3 to the Prusa.

@cwbullet

I am expecting a fair bit of learning.  One of the main reasons I went for the Prusa was their support, which seems second to none.

Went on Tburs at 9pm UK time (10pm Czech time)  to ask a question before buying, expecting to get an email response, got chat response at that time of night.  Thats pretty much unheard of in any support context.

Going to really take my time building., been studying the manual all weekend

@towlerg

So does that mean you have to pay VAT twice?

VAT is essentially a sales tax.  Exports are usually exempt from sales tax in the seller's country - but the buyer's country imposes duty and or local sales tax on arrival.  This is the case with VAT.  Czech VAT is 21%, UK VAT is 20%.  I believe Prusa quote UK customers the UK VAT inclusive price.  This slightly offsets the additional admin charges levied by the delivery couriers.  UK import duty on Czech 3D printers is zero.

I anticipate that as couriers streamline their admin and compete with each other the admin charges will reduce a little; don't hold your breath...

Cheerio,

@paulb

It just dawned on me, the guy that said he paid £902.57 for a Mk3s, was buying and assembled printer.

RE: UK orders

All I know is its a long wait!

I'm down for shipping by 8/3, which is better than originally estimated, but still too long!.

RE: UK orders

Just a query, I only ordered my MK3S+ kit on Friday, I am not expecting miracles, and know there is a 3-4week lead time.

I am not being at all impatient......honest 😀

What's the actual progression during your order, will I not hear anything until it is actually dispatched, or is there an estimated date that appears.

Says payment accepted and on backorder.

Just curious

@clarmrrsn

The next email you get will be when they pack it for shipping and print the shipping label. Took a day or two for DHL to pick it up then and showed up about 5 days later.

RE: UK orders

@ken, I'm guessing your order was for a MK3S+ not a mini ?

Will be interested to know how long it takes to get to you.

RE: UK orders

Thanks Ken/Paul.

So looks like 3-4 week quoted is probably pretty accurate.

I see the lead time table was just updated, and still remains at 3-4weeks for a MKS3+ kit.

Suppose it is fluid, and probably luck of tbe draw dependent on how many other orders are in front of you at the time of order.

@paulb

Yes it was a MKS3+ kit  - I might have gone for the Mini if the wait wasn't 8 weeks at the time

DHL have emailed today - delivery is next Wednesday, and tax printer and couple of nozzles, roll of PETG and extra roll of PLA is 20% of invoice price (i.e. just VAT) + £11

@ken

Thanks for the info. Coincidentally my order sounds the same except it's a Mini but with couple of nozzles, a spool of PLA and a spool of PETG.

@paulb

It's confusing as I got this on my email: Notification for shipment event group "Out for Delivery" for 25 Feb 21.
