Tip on smoothing 3D Prints
I normally print ASA and ABS as production parts for a product that I sell. I've found that if I spray my parts with Kylon Fusion Satin or Flat clear, it really makes my parts look much better to reduce print flaws and VFA. Kylon Fusion is a spray paint with a built-in primer. The primer formula has an acetone base, which attacks (fuses to) the material it is being sprayed onto - in this case, ASA or ABS. So it isn't just a coating of paint, it is a minimal technique of vapor polishing your part, but in this case, making it more matte.
This only works on ASA and ABS, since PLA, PETG, Nylon etc., will not be affected and in some cases can actually end up being "tacky" or having the reverse effect. I first discovered Kylon fusion when spraying some steel wire that were wrapped with kynar 32 gauge wire. The Kynar wire has a vinyl jacket, and they ended up being very tacky and not drying for months. Obviously, never spray Krylon Fusion on vinyl...

Here is a before and after image of a part I recently did. BTW, you can also use Kylon Fusion colors to have the same effect on your part but completely colorize it. If you want even more of a satin-textured look, use Kylon Satin clear and hold the can about 20 to 24" away from your part and do a light dusting of the part. This allows the paint to dry almost immediately upon touching the part to apply "particles" of paint on your part's surface.
