I think the powder coated of both types resist scrating.  You still can’t do contact with metals.  Either way, all sheets wear with time and become less usable.  They are semi disposible.  They last me a year or so.  I have one that is over 3 but really needs replaced.

Semi disposible is probably not the right term.  I am tired and need some sleep.  The sheets are not long lasting and will need to be replaced

Durability

Hi, how durable is the satin sheet? Do they get scratched easily like the smooth PEI sheet? Don't want to have imprint traces from previous prints showing up at the bottom of the new prints.

Put away the metal spatula and buy a plastic scrapper from your hardware shop. This works quite well although I'm yet to get a stubborn print removal but have only used the Prusament Carbon fibre polycarbonate

It is not available locally and it is not cheap. Neither is the international shipping cost.  

I recall that when talking about ways to clean the smooth PEI sheet, there was a suggestion to get those kitchen scrubber that claims not to leave any scratch. Bought a pack from the supermarket but despite the claim, it scratched my smooth PEI sheet. Now it has lots of fine lines on it.

I only use Dawn or Scotch scrubbers.  The ones I trust to not scratch my pots and pans.  

I bought "Scotch-Brite Scour Pad, multipurpose, non scratch scrub pad" It says non scratch but it scratched my PEI sheet. Which model did you get that does not scratch in reality?

I have used that and they did not scratch my sheets.  Today, I used the pink gentle ones or the green ones that are made of Bamboo.  I would not worry about subtle scratches,  

Do you consider very thin lines scratches? After I used that, I saw many thin lines. Perhaps I used too much force to rub it against the sheet?

My oldest sheet is the one that came with the printer, January 2020.

One side of it is still in good shape.

The other side has some boo-boos as you can see below, as when I first got the printer I did an ABS print with a flat bottom without a release agent.

I was unfamiliar with the PEI plate, and used to glass plates where it was common to use shovels and rakes and implements of destruction to remove prints.

I got impatient and used a small spatula from the kitchen to gently persuade the still-warm print to release from the plate, as was the common practice at our local 'makerspace' on such things as the Taz 5, and a few pieces of the PEI coating came off, stuck to the bottom of the plate.

Yes, I should have let it cool, lesson learned!  Yes, I should have used a release agent, lesson learned!

I can still use it for smaller prints, and often do when I'm using something like PC Blend, which has a reputation for being difficult to remove from the plate.

The booboos are the start but after using that side for about 1-3 years, it will start over adhering.  It is more common to happen with printing PETG, ABS, or PC Blend.  I have one upgraded Mk3 that I have reserved for PLA and its sheet is pristine after 3 years.  I have only had to retire two sheets.  The rest I reserve for tough to stick filaments.  I figure if there stick too much, they might still have a use,  

How is the satin sheet's thickness in respect to the smooth PEI sheet and the textured sheet?

When using it the first time, anything that we need to be careful of?

Don't put PLA on it.

Why we need to wash it before use? Why not put PLA on it? I thought a selling point for it is that both PLA and PETG can be used on it without issue.

This is a satin sheet thread - It might be good if posters please make their titles clear they are referring to other surface than satin. Or better start a new thread.

Wash that thing

You likely have a smooth PEI sheet already.  Perfect for PLA - works a treat.  PLA leaves nasty residue and marks, but the smooth can handle it.  You can always zap the smooth with acetone.  No acetone for the satin.

The satin is a dream (to me) for Pet-G and for smaller ABS prints.  Larger ABS prints warp.

Why wash?  If folks would just wash their sheets with plain dish soap (no scents, no skin softeners, no whatever), there would be only 1/2 as many posts on this forum.  Wash your sheets.  Just like you wash your hands (hopefully) after using the potty.  Make it a habit, and your life will be easier.

It is okay to have more than one kind of sheet in rotation.  I have many, and am not bothered by that.  Different sheets for different purposes.

I’ve been using the satin sheet for a couple weeks, maybe a couple dozen prints. Mostly PETG, but a few PLA prints too. 

It shows fingerprints like I couldn’t believe! While this sounds like a criticism; I take it as a “needs to be cleaned” indicator, so I like it.

I think this may become my favorite build plate.

Mine came in early Sep 2021. So far, adhesion has been great for fingerprints, dust and other foreign materials. Printer filaments? Not so much. I used palmolive free and clear dish soap to initially clean it with a plastic based scrub pad (no hard abrasives nor chemicals). Dried with a cotton towel. Tried a few goes with isopropyl with similar results. PC acts as if its a teflon sheet. PETG will tend to curl and push away from it. PLA will sometimes stick with a very close first layer. So far its not been very impressive IMO and have been relying on smooth PEI to maintain production.

No problems with PC and Flex. You have reset your live  z value?
