The print head does not move when printing.
I have recalibrated XYZ, it says it's good. I try to run the first layer calibration and, although the print head moves to the 9 positions like usual, when it begins to print the first layer the print head does not move at all, and the filament comes out and forms a pool at the start corner. This likewise happens if I try to print something.

Why did you do a xyz calibration?
Witch slicer did you use?
Is your slicer version and the firmware version the same? Wen a new one comes out I install this at the same time.
Did you try a ready made gcode from prusa website, or a old gcode from youyself and you now this one works.
RE: The print head does not move when printing.
I did xyz to see if it would help.
I was using 2.2.0 of the slicer and 3.9.1, but 2.3.0 and 3.9.3 do the same thing.
It doesn't matter what gcode I use -- an old one, a fresh one. but anyway, the first layer calibration should work no matter what, right? That's either in the firmware or something. Certainly that removes the slicer as the source of the problem, right?

Shutdown printer for 10 minutes, and try again?
Search forum for how to reset the printer, then printer is as a new one, then you need to do the steps as in a new printer. XYZ calibration etc.
RE: The print head does not move when printing.
Did you ever get a resolution to this issue?

@kenny-2
no. i have not fixed it.
RE: The print head does not move when printing.
I have reset this thing multiple times. The xyz calibration works. When I try to do a 1st layer calibration the head moves to all 9 positions like it should. when it tries to print, the filament pours out but the head does not move. a button of filament builds up around the head.
and yes, i reset the printer erasing "all data".

Okay. Per your email, if the IR thing is broken it will continuously feed filament without end, and it won't start moving until the IR sensor detects filament. Thus, it spews filament without moving. That makes sense.
My sensor always reads 0 -- so that should mean it's broken. I have ordered a replacement and will update eventually.
