Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!

Hi all,
welcome to our new forum! Let me share some more details about the whole transfer.

Our old forum ran on phpBB, which was handy in the beginning, but later on, as the user base increased, it became almost impossible to use it on the backend. Over 120 000 user accounts and many tweaks/hacks on the background to keep it running. Constant fixing took hundreds of hours.

With the Prusa Printers and single sign-on feature (OAuth). We stumbled again on the limit of the platform. Therefore we decided to look for another more flexible and up-to-date system.

I'm sure we are on the right track to improve the forum experience and there are more changes to come. In case you are missing some features from the old forum or you find any bugs, please let me know in the comments.

P.S.: Don't forget to check our brand new community website for sharing your 3D models prusaprinters.org

Can the announcements for latest firmware & slic3r releases be pinned again?

Any what to sync the number of posts and subscribed threads?

Unfortunately quotes do not seem to have migrated well... it makes old threads with them very confusing to read.

For example:

Hi guys,

thanks for your comments:

1) Posts will be pinned again, that is for sure.

2) Previously subscribed threads are on the list as well.

3) Quotes are an issue, we are working on it.

It would be nice to have a "mark everything read" button again.

Can we get a more compact theme for the forum? There is a LOT of extra white space (i'm using a monitor in portrait mode with my browser taking up about 2/3s of the screen and I can only see 3 posts at a time).

On the topic of spacing... long usernames don't render well and get mangled into the post body.

Additionally, feature request... is there a way to get an 'unread posts' button/link for only a particular subforum? It's somewhat annoying to have posts from other languages clogging up that page if you can't read them. (and I'm sure our non-english speaking folks would prefer the same...)

I echo vintagepc's request - there is a "Mark all read" at the bottom of the page, but that marks everything as read. I would like a button for the current subforum only, and for it to be at the top of the page.

It seems that all my subscriptions to topics are gone?

  • It's also not adding subscriptions automatically when you reply to a thread (you have to click the subscribe check box when posting).
  • I don't see a way (without replying) to subscribe to a thread.
  • I'm not getting notifications when someone quotes my posts.

The General forum title is overlapping the stats column (see attachment).

We can only add one attachment to a post? And it doesn't even automatically include it as an image (I manually got the URL for the attachment and added it again as an image)?

In the theme of "wasted space", a feature to let the user control the order of forums would be nice.

For example, I have a MK3 and MMU2 so it would be nice if I could bump the MMU forum head of the MK2.5 forum. Similarly I expect someone that only has a MK2.5 might like to bump that forum ahead of the MK3 forum.

Please note that I can't say I've seen another forum that does that so this is more of a "would be really really nice" wishlist item as long as we have a discussion going 😉

There is a button on top of the thread to do that.

Another problem is that I get an email for every individual reply to a topic now, even if I didn't visit the forum in the meantime. This clutters my mailbox.

Completely missed that. Thanks!

Yeah I agree about the emails (and I didn't see anything in my profile to change notification prefs), but I figured I used up my complaint quota for the day 😉 😀

The old notification alerts at the top of the page was a good solution IMHO.
