Sunlu High Speed Matte PETG warning

I bought a reel of this in white the other day to see what it is like as I have certain applications where the gloss of PETG is a bit much and this states matte.

First impressions were a bit worried as the initial purge did not come out smooth like most filament does, but rather rough as if if were full of moisture, but lets see what the printing is like.

This is on a core one with a diamondback 0.4 standard flow nozzle.

So I picked generic PETG, upped the volumetric flow to 15 and set the temperature of the nozzle to 245. Used the 0.2 speed profile.

It printed very well but got a bit warm on a tall thin part, so I turned things back to normal 12 for the volumetric flow and 240 for temperature.

Bridging test failed so I set the bridging ratio to 0.9 and that solved that issue.

First print, I need a glasses holder so quickly found one that will do, and set it off printing.

It came out nice, really nice, matte going to slightly satin is the finish and it does lessen the visible VFA's but they are still there if you look for them.

So far so good, but whatever you do, don't print this onto your good PEI surface, smooth or textured, this filament practically welds itself to the PEI, you will need a release agent, makes normal PETG seem like weak adhesion.

Luckily I have an old Fysetc sheet which has a texture if you can call it that, its nothing like the sand look sheets you see, more like smooth dimples, but close together dimples, more like orange peel, but whatever, it's adhesion has always been marginal at best, so I use it for PC and now this and it sticks to this incredibly well.

So if you do try this filament, use an old sheet or make sure you use release agent of some sort else you may regret it.

It's really difficult to get a picture of the print surface

Well worth giving it a try as the finish is nice.

Normal people believe that if it is not broke, do not fix it. Engineers believe that if it is not broke, it does not have enough features yet.
