Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
I just saw the news that stratosys is sueing bambu labs...
Interesting are the patents, here is a link:

How can there be a patent for a heatbed from 2014 when Jo released his earlier?
Could that also impact prusa?
RE: Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
It could be a patent for an improved heatbed, in which case they might have sited Prusa as prior knowledge, I've just looked up the first patent mentioned and it has over 80 citations.
Yes it could impact Prusa, even if Prusa is not infringing any patents as the cost of defending something like that can be ridiculous. But as they are talking about patents from 2014 my guess is if they where going after Prusa they would have done it by now
RE:
This popped up on a discussion channel at work, one thought was that they were going after Bambu because that company was taking a lot more market share.
Other estimates was this will likely take YEARS to resolve, and one possible outcome could be Bambu counter-suing to have the patents voided.
I am no legal expert, just passing on what some others (also not legal experts, though one person did have history of dealing with patents in the European Union) thought.
RE: Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
I hope the lawsuit is time consuming, bitterly fought, costs both parties a lot of money, and ultimately ends up voiding the patents.
RE: Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
We don't want this to cost both sides a lot of money...it's not Bambu's fault. Stratasys is the only one that this should cost, if the lawsuit itself is frivolous, and/or if the patents turn out to be invalid in the first place.
If Bambu loses too much money over this, from just defending it successfully or from actually losing the case, it's bad for consumers.
RE: Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
I was in manufacturing for 40 years. One of the journals printed articles about what happened in lawsuits related to manufacturing. One example as I remember.
Company A built a machine in the 1930's . Company B bought Company A. Company C in the 1970's installed safety systems on the machine. An operator got hurt on the machine in the 1980's, the operator had mitigated the safety devices. The operator in a jury trial successfully sued company B and C.
In short logic and the law may not go together and speculation on the outcome is probably a waste of time. I do wonder how many other 3D printing companies will be filling "friends of the court" briefs with the judge. A way others try to influence the suit with the judge.

F*ck Bambu.

@Netpackrat - Don’t hold back tells us how you really feel??? ;-))
A Chinese company is violating US patent law, SHOCKING!!!
I watched a few videos about this. I’m no patent lawyer but it sounds like if Stratasys wins they could stop Bambu from selling their printers in the US, not sure about the EU? Does anyone know if the EU enforces US patent laws?
RE: Stratasys lawsuit against bambu labs
Each region on the globe has his own patents and you have to file a patent in every region to have full protection.
I don't think US patents apply here in the EU, but I'm no lawyer so I could be wrong.
Having problems with bed adhesion every morning...
