Strange mystery filament?

I recently purchased two rolls of what was advertised as carbon fiber filled nylon filament. When I received it, I immediately noticed that it was very light and very flexible. I have had previous experience with CarbonX from 3DXTech, and this material did not resemble that at all. I cut a small piece of it and weighed it next to an identically sized piece of CarbonX, and found that the weight of the mystery material was about 33% less. After that, I submerged a sample in water and found that it floated! In addition, the filament was extremely pliable (difficult to break by hand) even after I dried it.

I sent the seller an email explaining my findings, and got a response a few hours later:

"Thanks for contacting us. Pure nylon is very flexible (think about zip ties). Most other suppliers who sell Nylon are actually selling a blended version which make it cheaper and easier to print, however, you lose the great properties that nylon offers (extreme toughness). The light weight properties of the filament are due to the carbon fiber additive. If you purchase our regular nylon you will find it is actually very heavy without the CF added. If you have any other questions please let me know."

Which still didn't explain the tremendous disparity in density from what nylon should be, especially considering that CF is denser than nylon. Am I missing something?
