Prusa USS Drybox
Hello everyone,
Just wondering if there are any news about the DryBox.
To be honest, I never saw it available on the website, and I cound't find any videos on youtube about it. Even on the Prusa Blogs, its not shown a lot of information about it.
Was it actually ever available and just sold out really fast ? or are we still waiting on it being released?
Prusa, can we have more info about it ?
Thanks 😉

That’s a good question.
I signed in to get a notification when available. But until now, I did not get anything.
Imho it’s also a little bit expensive compared to the polydryer box.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
Tommy from Prusa mentioned on Reddit that they had to do several revisions of the injection mold to get a well-sealed box, and that these respins are pretty time-consuming. So the USS boxes have not been available yet.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
I'm keen on getting this too, and I just noticed that they've added some more details and photos to the page on their shop: https://www.prusa3d.com/product/prusa-uss-drybox/
Hopefully that means it's not too long now until they are available!
With the current offer for free shipping over US$200 until April 21, I hope the dryboxes become available for purchase before the free shipping offer ends.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
Looks like they are now available for preorder! They started off yesterday saying a lead time of 3-4 weeks, but unfortunately they weren't eligible for the current free shipping offer as expected since they are not currently in stock. I planned to wait to see if they became available before the free shipping offer expired, but now the page says they're in high demand so the lead time is 5-6 weeks, which will be after the free shipping offer expires unfortunately!
Bit of a shame, since shipping to Australia is the same cost as 2-3 dryboxes alone.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
Frankly, I don't think they are worth the cost. I'm able to buy 2 Polydryer boxes for the price of one USS box (plus shipping). Sure, I can't mount them directly on the C1 but I really don't care about that.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
It will depend on the quality and needs of the individual.

I think the quality of the individual is alright in @hyiger's case. 😎

yep
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
It seems to be in-stock now, but doesn't support free shipping.

Still showing as 5-6 week lead time for me.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
Did Prusa just give us a sneak peek of a new product hidden in a joke video?? I want more info about this Prusa Pro ACU!!!
RE:
I was wondering that too - it seems a bit too well designed for a one-off. I suspect if it was only done as a joke there might be enough demand to turn it into a real product!
They have already put the files online so you can print your own copy. It seems like a particularly detailed model for just a joke.

I wondered about that as well. That it's really a filament dryer. That would be kind of nice. Knowing Prusa, it'll probably be stupidly expensive and underpowered.
RE: Prusa USS Drybox
I hope and suspect that it will not be under powered. Prusa has been moving more and more into higher temp filaments. They are producing a nextruders nozzle that can take 400 C. I pray I am not wrong, but anything less than 90 C would be a disservice.

Would really depend on what kind of plastic the dry box is made from. By the looks of it and the fact that the material itself would need to be hydrophobic I would say confidently that it's polypropylene. If that's the case, depending on the grade and formulation it can start to soften and warp at 80-90°. If I were to take a wild guess I would say the dryer will probably max out at 70°.

I hope that is incorrect.
