Prusa StatusBar 1.0: native macOS menu bar app for Prusa: camera, controls, notifications and home-automation hooks (free, open source)

Hello everyone,

I'd like to share Prusa StatusBar 1.0, a native macOS application I've built to make day-to-day Prusa monitoring and control as frictionless as possible.

The idea behind it

Zero clicks: a quick look at the macOS menu bar shows what the printer is doing, progress, ETA, state, without opening anything.

One click: the dropdown opens a small dashboard with everything I'd otherwise have to open a browser, PrusaSlicer or my phone for: live camera, controls, full status and quick actions.

What's in it

  • Live status in the menu bar: job, progress %, ETA, bed/hotend temps, printer state
  • Native macOS notifications out of the box (print finished, failed, paused, filament runout, etc.)
  • One-click dashboard with live camera preview
  • Printer actions: pause, resume, cancel, start
  • Home Automation integration with fully customizable buttons: trigger your own webhooks or scripts to integrate with Home Assistant, Homebridge, smart plugs, ventilation, lighting, etc.

Compatibility

  • macOS: Apple Silicon and Intel
  • Any Prusa printer with PrusaLink enabled (MK4 / MK4S / MK3.5 / MK3.9 / MINI / MINI+ / XL / CORE One)
  • Fully local: communication happens directly with the printer on your LAN. No cloud account, no telemetry.

Native and lightweight

The application is written natively for macOS, so memory and CPU footprint stay minimal. You can leave it running all day without noticing it.

Download and source

If you run into a bug or want to suggest a feature, please open an issue on GitHub. Print users and home-automation enthusiast, I'd love to hear how the custom-button integration works for your setup.

Thanks, and happy printing!
