Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
So today:
- Chrome browser
- My default language gets switched to Czech
- Edit or Quote no longer works
- Can't start a new topic, button doesn't work
I've switched over to Safari for now. For the love of everything unholy, please fix your website.
RE: Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
Update: Edit and Quote don't work on Safari either...
RE: Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
Obviously you're not been here long enough. If you had, you'd know by now that you're preaching in the desert. This web has always been "peculiar", to say the least, and I bet it will stay this way forever.
RE: Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
Yes, I realize Prusa doesn't hang out here but maybe the admin or a moderator will see this and (hopefully) feed it back to them...

Would that be the same admin or moderator who has had to live, for years, with new users making unreviewed edits to their signatures to add spam links? (Sorry Joan!) I am afraid the Prusa web site team (if it exists) does not listen to the moderators either.

Works in Brave... both yesterday and today !
Update: Edit and Quote don't work on Safari either...

RE: Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
The automated spam bots are a serious nuisance for anyone operating a public website. I applaud Prusa for keeping the forum clean. The attacks must be occurring daily.

I'm using Chrome and have not noticed anything unusual today. Got the usual random languages for status messages, but otherwise quoting, editing and pretending to open a new topic all work.
RE:
Quote seems to work on Chrome here... As does Edit.

Brave is build on the open-source Chromium browser engine.
It is a fork from Chrome - they remove Google services and telemetry. They add in built-in privacy protections like ad and tracker blocker. They include built-in VPN.
It is a privacy first alternative to Chrome.
A key Software founder was Brendan Eich - creator of JavaScript. He was the Mozilla CEO. When Mozilla cancelled him for having supported the California marriage law 8 years prior, I switched to stay with the key developer over the company that had gone political.

When my mouse hovers over a button I get the text insert mouse pointer "I" and not the selection pointer.

That's strange. Are you using any plugins/extensions with the browser?

Ad-block but then nothing has changed (on my side) for a long time FWIW I’m running MacOS I’ll try with incognito mode

And... it's working again. Buttons now have the hand cursor instead of the textbox insert cursor.

Maybe your adblocker received a misguided update yesterday which interfered with some Javascript (?) it considered suspicious, and which has now been corrected? I am using uBlock Origin lite here and did not experience any change to the button behavior.

Maybe. Although of the dozens of sites I frequent. This one is the most troublesome.
RE: Prusa, if you are listening your web site needs fixing
I certainly agree that this forum software has many rough edges and is in dire need of some care. I'm afraid the Prusa web team have designed themselves into a corner here: With user accounts shared across the forum, online store, and Printables site -- three sites which are probably based on separate platforms -- it must be hard to maintain, and difficult to switch to a more mainstream forum solution.
