Prusa has a Political problem on Printables

I was on Printables the other day and I was looking at the Pro and Anti Trump models. All I can say is I hope the people leaving comments on those models never find this forum!!! I’m very surprised and disappointed that Prusa let’s people talk like that to each other. I did report some of the really nasty stuff so it will be interesting to see if Prusa takes any of it down.

I mean, what did you expect from looking at Trump models...That's the world we live in today, human decency has become an endangered species.

I expected it would be bad but I didn’t think Printables would let it get that bad. This is a easy fix, just enforce the rules. That’s the part I don’t understand why is Prusa not enforcing the rules??

Which rule in particular? It's best to simply not allow political content.

I haven't looked and don't care to, but I assume the problem is that people are being abusive and disrespectful in the makes/comments sections, rather than merely political.  I would honestly rather deal with that than have censorship, since censorship always seems to follow the slant of the person doing the censoring, whether they realize it or not.  On the one hand if you are a creator, it sucks when you get people leaving vitriol in the comments because they disagree with the statement your model makes.  But on the other, if you are posting an overtly political model, then you have to expect some of that.

RE:

That is what people will do and the only real way to stop it is to not allow these types of models to be posted. Question is where do you draw the line? Is it OK to post a model of Hitler (that wasn't a parody)? I think we would all (mostly) agree that this would be stepping over the line. But then who gets to decide this? I'm sure if I posted a Biden model, it will receive the same vitriol but from the other side of the fence.

I will be that guy, I guess.  Why is it not OK to post a model of Hitler?  While he was one of the worst bastards/mass murderers in all of history, he was also a historical figure, and pretending that he didn't exist won't erase all of the evil that he did or that was done in his name.  Ultimately it's just a model.  Maybe some of the people printing it intend to use it for target practice.  Pretty sure that would happen with your hypothetical Biden model.  🤣  Probably doing that with a model of the sitting president might have some other undesirable effects for the end user, but that's a different issue.  But maybe it would at least give certain people an outlet other than shooting at the actual person (again).

Like Trump? Again, why politics don’t belong in a hobbyist setting.

Yup. Would love to have political and AI-generated excluded by default. Save me those two clicks before searching 👍
