Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
Initial thoughts??
Looks very interesting - printing any material without opening the chamber etc.
Shipping for the kit starts April 2025.....but we all know what Prusa are like with shipping new releases!!......
What are your thoughts???

3 options:
Pre-built
Kit
Direct upgrade from MK4s to Core One - will require disassembly of the MK4S and rebuilding into the Core one structure, since many of the parts are the same....

Bear in mind its a Core XY model - how much of a difference that makes to speed and accuracy is to be seen though, but at the cost of maintenance. My MK4s is running pretty good for me so far...!

RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
Exactly, mine is a straight 4 and just works. For me minimal gain.
RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
Seems great, however the sales policy is really strange.
I ordered my MK4S last month, now they released a more capable machine for just a slightly higher price. Asking if there is any compensation arrangement is the answer, just sent it back and we will refund your order. However I ordered as a kit, if a sent back a assembled one, I basically send them an additionally 300 euro.
Asking for a discount on the upgrade package this proposal was rejected
RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
They mentioned an upgrade path, but there's currently no option to order or preorder an upgrade kit from the Mk4s....

Yeh I suspect this is way down the line. The assembled kits will ship first - Jan 2025 - then the kits in April 2025. They will probably want to push more of these out the door first before moving on to the upgrade path.
I estimate closer to the summer considering Prusa's track record with new release shipments......

This is the printer I needed all along. Before I bought the Mini, the MK3S+, and 5-tool XL. 😄

RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
Will the GPIO Hackerboard be available for the XL too ?
RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
I wonder if the Core One upgrade kit be compatible with the MK3.9S?

Surprised and excited when the video dropped... A compact enclosed XY printer is great; I print mostly functional parts and being able to use advanced materials is a big step forward. I'm very happy there's a conversion kit for the 4S, but I'm still trying to decide whether to save the cash and convert, or keep my 4s and have 2 printers. On the one hand, it'll be good to keep a functional printer in case there are some teething issues, but I do need to find the space for it 🙂
RE:
I highly suspected that the MK4S PC-CF parts were printed on either the AFS system or some other enclosed printer we didn't know about. The print quality was incredible on those parts. I now believe that those were likely printed on Core One printers they were using in their farm. That is great news. I'm sure I'll eventually upgrade for the enclosure and core-xy advantages. As was stated above, this is the printer many of us have been wanting from Prusa for a while. I love my Mk4S, but having a proper core xy printer being manufactured inside the Prusa philosophy is going to be great.

RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
The Core One looks to be the printer I *wanted* the MK4 to be when it released (core XY, enclosure with temp-controlled fans).
Now that I have a MK4 (upgraded to MK4S), a Prusa enclosure, and temperature/fan control via Octoprint, it is hard to justify buying the Core One. Then again, I still have an old Lulzbot I could replace with a Core One...
Wait, did I say "justify"? Phhhttt. Prusa, take my money. Pre-0rdered this morning. But there's no way I believe that "shipping starts in Jan-2025"; be ready for all those dates to get extended.
RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
Everyone keeps saying the Bamboo is the best... BUT I would rather have a Prusa any day. I love how the prusa upgrades and the firmware support has been excellent!!! Plus I have printed almost 2years worth of prints on my MK3 with minor issues that tech support fixed every time. So, It looks like the Core One addresses all the complaints people have had with the Prusa line. Making the Core One the new/old BEST at the same time!
I haven't bought the MK3S+ to MK4 upgrade or even halfgrade yet. But someday I will. I told my Work to buy the MK4 and that thing has been so awesome to work with. I am trying to get Work to buy the XL, as they always want larger prints than the MK4 can give them. But now that the Core One came out, I can see a similar design as the XL.
I am curious? When is the Core XL coming out?
RE: Prusa Core One - Intial thoughts......
In the Core One upgrade, I suspect only the MK4 Nextruder will be kept.
I cannot see any other parts that can be transferred.
