I'll take a closer look at the hinged box project steps on Monday (I am away on vacation right now). Thanks for patience!

I figured it out! That's two-for-two on me missing crucial steps in the instructions hahaha

But sure enough, if the extrusion isn’t perfectly centered, it just won’t follow the sphere’s curvature.

The course absolutely calls this out! I just didn’t think it could possibly matter that much. (Which, in hindsight, makes the technique feel a bit fragile and situational?)

In my experience, the method is usually (!) not really that fragile. Here, I tried to extrude the polygon sketch from a more or less random plane (first, I created a plane at a random angle, then offset a second plane at a random distance), and it works fine. Even the sphere body itself is placed randomly, not centered on the origin.
I think that as long as the plane with the sketch intersects the body, the extrusion should work. Then again, as usual in Fusion, there might be some bugs and "secret rules" causing the method to not work occasionally.
