Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
With the new Update, my printer basically didn't work anymore. The MMU couldn't feed the filament into the extruder linke normally. It just pushed it in and pulled it back agin and again. All the Sensors were working and were triggered, nevertheless it always pulled it back up.
I took apart the extruder, cleaned the nozzle with the bypacked needle and by doing a coldpull (it was perfectly clean), resliced my model, rebooted the machine and so on but nothing solved the problem. Also the sledge on the mmu seemed to really collide with the left wall (it didn't just touch it a little like normally).
Now I reflashed both the printer and the mmu with the old firmware and everything works fine again.
Any idea why this happened? Other people with the same setup told me it worked just fine on their machines. I'm also 100% sure I flashed the right firmware.

I have the same problem. MMU pushes back the filament all the time. Load of the filament works ok. Load to nozzle does not. I checked the sensor during the loading cycle. it starts with 0,0,0 (Pinda, Finda, IR) and then the Finda goes to NA and the IR to 1.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
Here some more information:
The display mentions: loading filament 1
The MMU starts to do push back the filament. I know this because when I try to push the filament into the MMU by hand (a bit), the MMU pushes the filament back. Then after a while the display asks: Filament Ecxtruding with the right color? As if a change of filament has occurred.

@bas
Yes, exactly that happened with my setup today. My sensors showed the same and it asked "Filament extruding with the right color?" although the mmu pulled the filament out of the extruder right before.

I have sent a mail to [email protected]
Hopefully they will react.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
The problem occurs with this update:
V3.9.3 (1.0.6) MK3S+/MK2.5S MULTI MATERIAL 2S (January 7, 2021)
Printer firmware update (3.9.3)
@Vanessa to which version did you go back?

@bas
Thanks for sending the mail 🙂 I thought the forum was the way to contact them (I didn't need to contact anyone before).
I went back to V3.9.2 and everything works fine again.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
My previous firmware version was 3.8.1.
....can that be the cause?
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
I tried to go back to version 3.9.2, 3.9.1 and 3.8.1 but the problem stays
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
The help chat answer of Honza is: I think the issue must be from the Finda or IR sensor. Try re-adjust the two sensors. Try moving the Finda lower, and the IR sensor a bit to the right.
I will try this later today.

@bas
Did you flash both the mmu and the printer? There is different firmware for that combination and I re-flashed the wrong one at first (only for the printer).
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
@vanessa
Yes, I flashed both. And I do a reset of the printer and then the mmu and then I flah the drivers.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
Both my Finda and IR sensor works ok. The sensor values are both stable 0 when no filament is in and stable 1 when filament is in.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
Here a copy of the live support chat of Prusa:
- ok, this sounds like the IR sensor is not correctly calibrated, after all
- But the IR values seems ok when I put the filament in by hand?
- by hand is one thing by actually loading the filament when starting a print is another thing
- please start a print - any print, it doesn't matter which one. then as soon as you gave the command, switch to the Sensor screen. maybe IR will change from 0 to 1, but it also need to remain 1. if the status change to 0 on its own, then IR sensor needs to be calibrated
the MMU will do 3 load attempts before triggering the error message, so that you can adjust the idler tension in between attempts - Mmm, I did this before and the I sensor changes to 1 stable. The finda went to NA
Giuliano 12:29: - the FINDA does that when load fails. it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the problem.
Bas 12:29 - ok, I will try it again
- Thanks for now.
This has indeed solved my issue. The value of the IR sensor was flickering.
RE: Problem with firmwareupdate V3.9.3 and MK3s + MMU2s
I want to thank Giuliano. My printer is happy and so am I.

I'm gonna try and readjust my IR-Sensor too. Thanks a lot for sharing 🙂
