Printed Solid as a vendor
Has anyone in the US purchased a Prusa printer from Printed Solid? How was the experience?
RE:
Last time I checked it was a little more expensive to buy from Printer Solid than direct from Prusa even with VAT and the MK4 was under $800 so there wasn't a VAT. The also weren't selling the kits just fully assembled printers. Things may have changed in the last 6 months or so
RE:
So more reading, and it seems Printed Solid is owned by Prusa. I clicked 'buy me' on a Core (to add to my Mk3). We'll see how it works.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
I don't know what is going on over at PrintedSolid other than they are in the middle of a move to a new location about 8 miles away. They haven't announced the move on their blog (sadly their blog has always been very quiet since last summer). The address on their web-page (and on Google Maps) is the new location, but the address on their facebook page is the old location. I honestly don't know how the move is disrupting their assembly line and filament lines, nor when the move will (or has been?) completed.

I find that I usually get stuff delivered to the US Northeast faster if I order from Prusa directly than from PrintedSolid, and with the markup at PS it's financially a wash.

RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Gotta say, I would think twice about ordering from them. Ordered a Core One kit, with some extra nozzles, sheets, etc. They marked everything shipped and fulfilled a week later, but they sent the wrong sheet and DID NOT SEND THE PRINTER. Sent a ticket over the long weekend, and they did promptly respond this morning. They wanted the standard pictures of what was sent and the packing list. They're in the process of sending over a new kit and sheet, with a return label/package for the wrong sheet sent. How much of a mess is their operations that they don't even check what they're shipping, especially a huge box like the Core One kit. There may be no financial loss, but there's no way I could trust an operation like that.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
I ordered my MK4 from Printed Solid, and I frequently order filament and other necessities as needed. I've never had a problem, and the one occasion I made a mistake (ordered the wrong size steel sheet), exchanging the product was no trouble.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
I've only ordered filament from them (mostly Prusament ASA Black when Prusa were out of stock) and it was fine. Didn't get my 5% kit buyer discount, but didn't pay for shipping (over $50). Effective cost was close enough it didn't concern me.
It is very frustrating trying to find spare parts on their site -- and often not succeeding (can't find the main 1300mm cable to the LoveBoard for the CORE One, though they do have the LoveBoard). Especially with the end of de minimis it would be really nice to have the tariff tax baked into the up-front price.
RE:
Bought my Core One from Printed Solid along with some filament (their Jessie line is pretty solid.) They're more expensive than buying directly from Prusa, but if you're in the US right now and you don't want to deal with tariff chaos, I think PS is the way to go.
Their shipping is relatively quick. I think I got my last order of filament within a week and a half?

Regarding PrintedSolid: Ordered two different colors of Prusament ASA filament, some refill PETG along with some of their in house brand 8/22 - they pretended to 'fulfil' on 8/28 with USPS tracking stating "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" -- a status to this very day.
Sent them an inquiry two days ago- received an immediate response that did not answer any question about status whatsoever. Just
" Thanks so much for contacting us, looking at your order everything does seem to be in order and without issue, this is the stage prior to USPS picking up the parcel, I did personally send this order to the shipping team to get verification on it just to ensure it has gone out or if it is awaiting pickup at this time. "
Note- nothing indicating what any status is...
This is two weeks after order.
They seem to be particularly awful at this or not very interested in business outside of the corporate or government sector.
Would not recommend at all- despite their filament being decent- the customer service is abysmal.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
This appears to be a Prusa tactic to float funds. I just ordered from Prusa direct, items that are in stock and 1-3 days to ship... five days later I get an email saying they've created a packing slip. Unfortunately, this is a common practice in some businesses.
I did eventually order a printer from Printed Solid, it was out of stock but they said a container was inbound within the week. I clicked BUY and less than a week went by and the printer did ship as they said it would. Several days later (free ground shipping) it arrived at my door step. Overall not an unpleasant experience. And it saved me having to fight the silly tariff and duty wars. I accept it probably cost me $50 to avoid having to deal with customs; then again, I've read the shipping company can charge fees over and above the duty owed ... so maybe I broke even.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
They shipped out the replacement (original?) printer and textured sheet today. I passive aggressively asked if I'm going to have to wait or if they'll expedite the matter, and it seems like they did next day shipping. With things being hit or miss with them, I'm pretty torn. I'm fine paying a little extra to avoid the import headache, and I'd like to support local. Maybe it really is just the move has everyone frazzled, as previous posts seem to indicate good service. I'll give them another shot in a month or so with some filament, but if they bungle that, I'll just order straight from Prusa, even if it takes longer or costs more (if tariffs increase).
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
I did a month or two ago. Shipped within days, arrived well packed and process was smooth.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Printer kit arrived today, so I'm in the middle of assembly. Not sure who is assembling these kits, but about 1/4 of the bubble wrap packages are unmarked and not sealed. They seem to be in the right sub-boxes so far and luckily there are pictures in the installation guide. Not sure if this is standard, but I'm really disappointed with the Q/A at PrintedSolid.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Are you sure Printed Solid assembles the kits. I'm under the impression they just pass the boxes through from Prusa.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Hey everyone. I'd like to answer some of the questions and speculation here in regards to Printed Solid, as I often work with them and have been there several times myself in the past.
The company has recently moved to a new, larger location to accommodate its growth and expansion, though it's just a few miles from the old spot. The new location is fully operational in terms of general operation as well as production. I can't share too many details about the production right now, though we should have some larger news about that soon.
The kits that they are shipping are put together directly by Prusa. Printed Solid is only working on assembled machines at this stage. In regards to the plastic bags, we have them unsealed for testing the components. As far as I'm aware, there shouldn't be any risk of the part getting damaged due to that, though (at least I haven't seen any reports myself).
If you are in the area, Printed Solid will be attending 3D Printopia (BEL AIR, MARYLAND: 9/27 - 9/28) and would definitely be happy to help discuss these things in person there too
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
I've ordered a number of things from Printed Solid, filament, spare parts (but not an entire printer). I find the time from purchase to receiving an update that the item has been shipped to be far too long. I'm willing to chalk this up to their move to their new location, but honestly any time I've ordered from them over the past year, the turn around time is very long.
That said, I've never had an issue with the quality of Printed Solid's materials or parts. I appreciate that we have a Prusa vendor stateside, and I hope they can work out whatever issues are slowing them down.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Ordered 2 rolls of filament and an accelerometer on Monday. Confirmed and yet still not shipped? If the new location is fully operational, they're doing a really terrible job keeping up with orders. Items were in stock when ordered, and checking today, they're still in stock.
I ordered a few rolls of PC-CF from Prusa a few weeks ago, and it shipped, clear customs, and got delivered in 4 days. I'm not expecting a one day turnaround, but 3 days without any update for 2 rolls of filament and a little sensor is ridiculous.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
That "shipping label created" message means nothing, and I have seen many times companies use that to scam or delay people. If the item(s) doesn't actually "ship" in 24 hours, it means nothing.
RE: Printed Solid as a vendor
Yeah, I placed an order with printedsolid six days ago. Yesterday the label was created, hasn't shipped yet. This is par for my experience with them. I usually get stuff faster if I directly order from Prusa, which I didn't do this time because I was deterred by this tariff baloney. Next time I'll order from Partsbuilt3d again, which seem to be more efficient in their shipping.
