print height of mk3s

The mk3s is advertised as having a print height of 250mm.  I was doing a print that was 9" and the printer was unable to do it.  It appears to me that the max print height is 220mm.  Would someone please confirm this.  When I loaded the printer software it had the height at 210mm.

Thank you

Can't you just manually run Z up to max and see what the Z reading is?

The print volume of the MK3S is 250x by 210y by  210z.  Here's the specs from the Prusa website:

https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/180-original-prusa-i3-mk3-kit.html

BASIC FEATURES

  • Great build volume – 11,025 cm3 (25 x 21 x 21 cm or 9,84 x 8,3 x 8,3 in)
  • Integrated LCD and SD card controller (8GB included)
  • 0.4mm nozzle (easily changeable) for 1.75 mm filament
  • Layer height from 0.05 mm
  • Automatic mesh bed levelling
  • Heatbed with cold corners compensation – for warpless 3D printing from any material
  • Automatic skew axes compensation
  • Hassle free PEI print surface - no glass, no glue, no ABS juice
  • Supported materials – PLA, ABS, PET, HIPS, Flex PP, Ninjaflex, Laywood, Laybrick, Nylon, Bamboofill, Bronzefill, ASA, T-Glase, Carbon-fibers enhanced filaments, Polycarbonates...
  • Easy multicolor printing based on layer height
  • 1 kg (2 lbs) silver PLA filament included
  • Kit box dimensions: 11 kg, 42×43×24 cm; 16.5×16.9×9.5 in (D×H×W)
  • Printer dimensions (without spool): 7 kg, 55×40×50 cm; 21.6x15.7x19.6 in (D×H×W)

How did you slice the model? PrusaSlicer issues warnings when a part won't fit the build volume. Did you really let a print go that far before figuring out you had the dimensions wrong?

My guess is he changed the printer settings to 250 mm ... so Plicer was fat dumb and happy.

It's almost as if... They were trying to tell him something. Weird.

What it says on the website is 9.84, 8.3, and 8.3"'s.  It doesn't say which dimension is the length, width, or depth.  Maybe the standard is dwh, but in this case the width is 9.84".

They probably assumed (yeah, I know, bad thing to do) that people would read those dimensions as x, y, z. On i3 design printers (I don't have experience with other designs so I can't speak with authority) and on every 3D design tool that I've used, x is the width (side-to-side), y is the depth (front to back), and z is the height (up and down). And, this might be my failing, I never can remember what length means in anything more than a 1 dimensional context.

9.84 inches is roughly 250mm. So yes, the width on X is 9.84 inches, which means the height on Z is 8.3 inches. It's worth noting that to change the maximum print height in PrusaSlicer, you had to consciously select the Expert level settings. Those are meant for people who know what they're doing.
