Polls are fine, but not too many

I like Shanes weekend polls as they are a break from the every day stuff you see in the forum. BUT, today when I selected a thread to view, I was presented with a poll out of the blue:

"Have you ever had a print detach from the bed after 3+ hours?

Poll is created on Nov 05, 2021

  •    I have never experienced such a ridiculous newbie issue, for I am a true champion and an absolute legend.
  •   ....um....I don't want to talk about it.....(but the answer is "maybe")
  • I don't bother with printbeds any longer, I extrude straight into a trash can to save time."

Too many polls dilute the effectiveness of them as people start to lose interest in responding to them. This is the first time I have seen one,so maybe someone is trying something new or I am just lucky( like with the captchas ). Wait, I think someone is out to get me! 🙁

I think that was a user with to much time on their hands, I shy away from that myself.

It's an option here, and I see where Prusa can use it to generate interest, But I'm not a fan personally.

and Kennd, Just because your paranoid doesn't me they aren't out to get you. 🤪

@swiss_cheese

Polls from PR and forum administrator - OK. Moderators - iffty. Users -
No <> way, and should not be allowed.

@cwbullet

Then explain why the next time I tried to login after my original post, captcha reared it's ugly head again? It is so secure I can bypass it with three mouse clicks. It is just a pain in the <>.

Oh, wait. You are in on it as well 🙂 🙃 🙂 🙃

That is a question Prusa or the programmer.  I am just stating why people use CAPTCHA.  I never said it works, but I supports its use if it cuts down on spam posts.

Agree completely. Or for example "What is your Z-offset?" -I mean.. seriously?? Is like asking which is your favorite filament color. Childish.

Poll must have a purpose: to deliver certain useful or interesting information. An information, that could help us at our decisions, or it could even be valuable for Prusa to improve products -which is again good for community.

Saying all that, poll option should only be given to qualified members (according to membership time, valuable contributions, estimated knowledge & experience, etc.).

Being at suggestions... I suggest new forum section: "First layer problem" and put it right on the top of the list. Because I noticed (as did other regular contributors), most newcomers don't even try to put some effort in reading existing forum content.

First layer problem section? I like it! If used properly(at chance) it could entice people to read first, ask questions last(or maybe never). It would also put that topic where members can avoid it, unless they want to check. For example, I do not have a Mini or one of those resin thingies, so I do not go into those forums. For first time posters, it would be nice for each forum to do something like companies do with software or services where you have to read the EULA(yeah, right). First timers would be directed to a TIPS document and have to sign off. Might catch a few, but kiddees that were weaned on Giggle, Yeahaw, and the like don't want to do any work, they want others to do it for them. I have seen so many questions where the answer is already been answered dozens of times.

I cannot see any reason to give regular members polling rights. We can agree to disagree on that one.

How about a poll on whether we should have a poll on having polls. LMAO
