PETG Dishwasher safe?

Is the Prusa PETG dishwasher safe? Also food safe?

OK for dishwasher (probably) but not for food

The glass transition temp for PETG is typically around 85C/185F. A typical dishwasher cycles at around 60C/140F. So a PETG print will "probably" survive a wash cycle. Food safe is a complicated topic. PETG with no additives is generally considered food-safe, but most filaments have colors and other additives which are not. It really doesn't matter because FFF printing is inherently not food-safe. Any print will have grooves and crevices that can harbor bacteria and get gross rather quickly. You can coat PETG or other filament prints to make them safer. Food-safe also implies printing on an approved printer (e.g., no brass nozzles which typically contain lead).

food safe

Not all PETG is food-safe.  I general, I would not use 3d printing for contact with food.

I do make items for the dishwasher and have used PETG and ASA.  Both survive the dishwasher.  The times I have made ate soda stream lid holders but none of the items make direct contact with food.
