Packing an assembled MK3 for shipping
I'll be trusting a moving company to move my MK3S 2500 miles across the US. I'm interested if anyone has any experience with the level of disassembly I should do in order to safely pack and ship my printer.
I'm thinking I can remove fairly easily:
- PSU
- Front LCD assy
- Heated bed and carriage
- Y Axis rails
- Front and rear extrusions and plates
This leaves me with a flat Z axis gantry with attached X axis and extruder assemblies, which can lay relatively flat and can be tied down/supported easily in a box. Removed components can be packed easily into the same box 🙂
Maybe I make a guide similar to this Zortrax page when I figure it out if people are interested?

Maybe an opportunity for some community developed shipping fixtures 🙂
RE: Packing an assembled MK3 for shipping
There's an article on how to ship your printer for repair back, and they describe how to pack it: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/x6lxmh2nz1-packing-printer-for-return If it has to survive postal service, then movers should be luxurious trip for it. Unless they drop one whole couch on it.
You can also take a look at videos of people unboxing assembled Prusa printers - mostly when mk3 came out and reviewers received their copies. Then just do the reverse 🙂

if you can't choose among storage companies, I'd recommend this one https://starkmovers.com/services/storage/ Good luck!
