Owning different sheets

Is it good to own several different types of sheets? I’m interested in using PLA and PLA +, PETG, possibly TPU/ABS/Carbon Fiber. My MK4 has the smooth PEI. Suggestions appreciated. 😀 👍

RE: Owning different sheets

For all the filaments you name, the satin sheet would be quite perfect. I only see two reasons why you could want to have more than that:

  • When printing Nylon (which you don't seem to plan on), the special Nylon sheet could be helpful because it would work without glue stick.
  • If you want to print parts with that nice texture some of the original Prusa parts (e.g. the LCD cover of the MK4) have, you'd need a textured sheet.

If those two aspects don't interest you, get the satin sheet and just use that for everything.

😀 thanks. I’ll use your advice and get both just in case I need to go either way.

I really like the textured sheet. It leaves a nice surface that doesn't appear to be 3D printed. PETG sticks really well.

If you're printing a lot, another thing to consider is owning two sheets of the same time. Sometimes it's best to let the part cool completely before removing it (for ease-of-removal, minimizing ghosting and minimizing risk of deforming the part). And to keep your printer going it's not a stupid idea to have another sheet to allow for slow cooling but also keeping your printer up and running.
